County Lodge & Brasserie, hotel in Warton

Set in Carnforth, 13 km from Trough of Bowland, County Lodge & Brasserie offers accommodation with a restaurant, free private parking and a bar.

I loved how warm and dry the room was after getting half drowned up Ingleborough. Water boarding at Guantanamo Bay would have been less wet. The mattress was lovely and soft, though I think I could have slept on a pile of discarded brick ends with how tired I was.

We like walking and sightseeing as well as exploring, trying new things and chilling. We booked Warton as it is the south end of the Lake district and it meant a shorter journey for us, close enough to then have days out around the lakes. Carnforth is in easy walking distance, only a couple of miles, and it is a pretty village with a canal and The County restaurant, which we loved. The food there is excellent. On a canal walk, we also found Hest Bank Hotel, on the side of the canal, and we had a glorious lunch there; the staff were really friendly and helpful. The location is an easy drive to Windermere and Coniston lakes, and not far from Morecombe Bay, which has a vast and lovely beach with a wide and interesting promenade that goes all the way to the next village. We found a great wine bar/coffee house in Morecombe called Brittlestar. Great for a light bite.

We liked everything it was everything we wanted it to be.

We liked everything it was everything we wanted it to be. The kitchen in the lodge was equipped with everything plenty of plates, bowls, cutlery, cups, pans ect. I can't see how anyone could find fault it was perfect. We have been all over the country over the years on lodge holidays but did not know about South Lakeland Leisure Village and for us its come one of the tops in all the lodge parks we have stayed at. Anyone who decides to book a lodge here will love it. We had a lovely quiet break we did not travel out and about we had everything we needed at the lodge.
