I ended up at the Black Horse after being stranded at Peterborough due to an LNER situation - I tried booking hotels in town and they had run out of spaces so I randomly chose a reasonably priced one that was accessible - which ended up being the Black Horse. It looked very nice from the photos and lived up to this image - it's a gorgeous place - an old-fashioned inn with a restaurant, bar and rooms, beautifully decorated. The young woman on duty who checked me in (I can't remember her name but she was great) was extremely welcoming, reassuring and accommodating. The dinner was exceptional - the best gluten-free fish and chips I have tasted! (Coeliacs should check if the tartare sauce is gluten free though) It was great to be so warm and well-fed in such a nice environment after being stuck on the train and then a cold platform for several hours. I'd definitely recommend this place. My room was large and comfortable with space to work and a really good shower. They even let me work remotely the next morning teaching music online no bother! (In fact I got a round of applause from the locals in bar next door when I finished :D) Altogether very friendly, comfortable, amenable and relaxed place. The young bar staff were also great - relaxed, resourceful and accommodating. I'd definitely choose to stay here if I was in the area again, absolutely.

Peterborough came across as poor and unloved.
I walked through the centre of town on a Wednesday night around 10:30 and did not feel safe - not normally affected like this.
There are groups of homeless people around the town, not necessarily bothering people but they need support and shouldn’t be left to roam the streets. Far more homeless here than anywhere I visited recently.
This was a work visit, I would not visit for pleasure

Peterborough not the best city in the world, but a few shops to mooch about it, and plenty of places to eat and drink. Mum and I took a trip to the cinema. Was nice. This hotel IS NOT in the town centre. Its a little drive. But that is what we wanted.

Like all cities there are some less charming areas! But some good cafes in town, Gossip good coffee and Fratellis in Rivergate for coffee and breakfast. Oh and East on the river for Asian fusion food and to sit in a boat!

There is a excellent centre that has a good variety of restaurants, shops and corner little shops. Named chains and independent retailers. There is also historical aspects if you want to know more about Peterborough's history. There are reasonable priced car parking places. If not wanting to drive the coach and train stations are very local if you want to leave the car at home!.
The scenes in tbe back with the ducks etc-
I was competing in the PCA PETERBOROUGH my car actually broke down before the show. Riley your hotel staff is another level of customer service. I've been a manager for over 10 years and I have never came across an employee like Riley ! She is a credit to Dragonfly Hotel. Even the checking in she was so welcoming - then with my car issue she had gone above and beyond too help me - you will be expecting a thank you present for Riley please ensure she receives it xx I placed also 🥉
Surprisingly for a chain hotel and Peterborough, this hotel has staff that always acknowledge guests, spot if you're looking for something and, obviously want to do a good job. The manager clearly gets in amongst the action and leads by example. The room was well maintained and the broken window catch we reported was mended within a few hours of it being reported. Breakfast buffet was really good and well stocked.
My family and I were pleased with our one night bed and breakfast at this hotel. The rooms and bathrooms were really good, plus the shower was superb. Breakfast was continental with reasonable choices, and we enjoyed it. Parking for our vehicle was provided. We would highly recommend this hotel for those passing through or those in need of a few night stopovers inclusive of breakfast.
We regularly have weekends away and are always trying new locations. The Queensgate is perfectly within walking distance of Peterborough town centre. Loads of hospitality places within walking distance. The majestic Cathedral less than 3/4 mile away. The beautiful River Neen several hundred yards away and has food and beverage on the bankside. We will return.
Really comfortable and spacious rooms which are well equipped and very clean. Good beds and plenty of towels and toiletries. The hotel has a lovely spa, with a well designed pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna, as well as loungers for reading. Breakfast was also plentiful and varied. big and convenient car park too, as well as polite and courteous staff.
It's a boutique hotel with interesting decoration in the common areas. We had a big room overlooking the main road and a church so it was bit noisy from traffic throughout the night but not excessively.
The Turkish restaurant downstairs does nice meals but you have to bring your own booze. Breakfast served in your room.
the breakfast on the 1st morning was good. The Spa facilities were also decent and our daughter enjoyed them. parking was simple and right outside hotel. the setting of the hotel and the gardens are stunning.
This was a brilliant place to stay near to Peterborough city centre. The kitchenette was really useful. All was clean and bed comfortable. Would fully recommend. Even had a TESCO express across the road.
The room size was good for a single person like me. The location was in good area and just opposite of the hotel was co-op supermarket and 10-15 mins walk from Peterborough train station.
The hotel itself is excellent, room very acceptable for a 2 night stay and breakfast more than satisfactory, position of the hotel for our needs was perfect, on site parking no issues
Convenient and easy to find Hotel for the traveler. Very convenient for a Peterborough city trip
Parking directly outside hotel, albeit adjacent to services public parking.
Great hotel with historic story about the Cheese.
Really enjoyed staying here and the breakfast was lovely. Staff very friendly and welcoming.
