Lovely hotel. I loved the little extra touches in the room - board games and a pack of cards in a stylish wooden case, Roberts radio, Dyson hairdryer and Nespresso machine plus lovely toiletries. Breakfast was nice. I liked the beautiful gardens and the decor in the hotel lounge.

I loved the comfortable bed.
I asked before my stay if I could have a room with a bath due to my autistic son being frightened of the shower. The staff member I spoke to was very accommodating.
I was alone with my son who was quite a handful at breakfast on my checkout day. The lady hosting breakfast was absolutely wonderful and got him to sit and wait for me to finish my breakfast as he was pacing beforehand. It's small things like that that really do make a difference and make me feel valued rather than embarrassed. So, thank you to YOU for that.

We loved our stay. We had a very warm welcome from Victoria complete with a glass of prosecco and chatting by a cosy fire. The house is amazing, it's much more like staying with classy friends than a B and B. Very comfortable and lots of thoughtful little touches. Delicious (I'm guessing) Italian dinner available with pre-booking (we couldn't arrive in time to try it). Breakfast was outstanding. Cute dogs and kitten to pet. Great location and good tips for local visits.

The hotel is in a small village with a shop, a village hall and a very nice little pub that serves great ale. The hotel is not cheap but it delivers in a lot of ways. The food is lovely, both in the bar and the restaurant, the pool is very nice, the rooms and housekeeping are great but above all else it was the staff. They were polite and made time to chat and talk about the area and such. The location, close proximity to Haytor, and Dartmoor in general is a walkers dream. Overall a great place for a short break.

We enjoyed early morning hiking in Dartmoor.
We enjoyed early morning hiking in Dartmoor. Walk to Haytor rocks early in the morning at 07:00 was very enjoyable. Torquay is only 30 to 40 minutes by car which we visited and there are lot of other attractions in the area to enjoy.

The whole place is amazing, staff are so friendly and the food is lovely..beautiful gardens to sit in and the spa is gorgeous and so relaxing..If you are looking for a nice quiet tranquil place to stay this is the place for you
Fabulous hotel, pool/sauna/steamroom/hydropool marvelous. Breakfast lovely, I would have given an overall 10 but the evening menu was a let down. The restaurant and bar menus both served basically the same a'la cart dishes. Wasn't impressed with paying £4.95 for an extra portion of chips because the meal itself was so small. However, there is a lovely pub, carpenters arms, which is in walking distance where we had a lovely meal. Will definitely be going back but will book the pub for evening meals in advance
This is a remarkable hotel because it has the combination of very high standards with a laid back and friendly atmosphere. Evening meal was top London quality. The chief has been with the hotel for 20 years. A hidden gem in the heart of Dartmoor Devon. The spa was was what you would expect to find in a top ranking classy spa hotel. I hesitate to say all this because I’m a way I wish I could keep the Islington Country House Hotel my secret!
We enjoyed a lovely relaxing time with excellent food. The hotel is set within beautiful Dartmoor park with Haytor in the distance. We enjoyed really amazing food in the dining room for both breakfast and dinner, and and a relaxing bottle of wine in the lounge. The staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The price is a really great value.
There is so much to like about this hotel. The location is beautiful, the spa facilities are exceptional for a small hotel and it would be difficult to better the general comfort and ambience of the hotel. The eye for detail is very apparent the moment you walk in. Nothing appeared to be overlooked to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
We loved our stay at the Islington country house and Spa. The hotel is quiet and relaxing and the food at both the Inn and restaurant was excellent. All the staff were very friendly and went out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay.
