My son and I stayed at Forse of Nature for one night on our two week adventure around Scotland and we loved this stay the most of all our stays. The hosts were amazing, and gave us excellent suggestions for activities in the area that formed out to be some of the best of our trip. They were lovely!! It was quiet and peaceful there, and the cafe and gift shops added to the charm!!!

The Portland Hotel, hotel in Dunbeath

The Portland Hotel is located in Lybster. Boasting a spacious guest lounge, this property also provides guests with a restaurant. Guests can have a cocktail at the bar.

The hotel owner was really lovely, fantastic customer service. She went out of her way to make sure I had a nice stay. Thank you! :) Easy to find, right on the main road, plenty of parking. Nice dining room and communal sitting room area steeped in heritage and a sense of the history of the building and place. Information on display about things to do in the area, and a fridge with packed lunch items for purchasing for travelers heading out on the road. (Glad I went down to visit Lybster's little hidden harbour, lighthouse and pebble beach cloaked by cliffs, well worth a visit!) Room was quiet and warm, comfy bed, had a good night sleep, and a good shower in morning.

We thought it was a lovely place and think with the addition of the pods next to The Bay restaurant (also owners of the pods) puts Dunbeath on the map for visitors. I wouldn’t class it a touristy place, but it’s got a beautiful harbour and in a great position for onward travel to Wick and Thurso and many of the attractions along the NE coastline.

A small sleepy town. Very kind people.

A small sleepy town. Very kind people. Tasty toes in the harbour sells delicious lobster or crab meat. There is limited choice of stores, but the staff are amazing. The best stroll is to the Cave, If you don't mind walking longer distances along the road, you should visit Braemore. The scenery is spectacular.
