We were there mainly for the Roman sites just outside Chepstow. Caerleon and Caerwent these are amazing for history lovers. The gardens and grottoes at Dewstow were a revelation we had a marvellous time there.

The castle and architecture, particularly at that end of town, is nice and the setting lovely. Tintern Abbey is a 6 mile bus ride away and well worth seeing. Unfortunately, you can't walk along the River Wye to it; the designated walk takes you well away from the river on both banks, though this is somewhat due to sheer cliffs! Not much else to see and do in the immediate area and no Sunday buses, so a better midweek break or day trip than a weekend break for non-drivers like myself. I go for the Chepstow Wassail and Mari Lwyd event on a Saturday in January and tend to stop off elsewhere on the route home on the Sunday because there's no way to get anywhere locally.

Evening meal we had in the bar area, which we appreciated had a limited menu, three of us ordered chicken burger, which too over 30 minutes to arrive, the chicken was tough and over cooked. Taxi was extortionate costing £29.00 to go less than 3 miles - recommended by the hotel! Service is poor when the hotel is full - they do not cope well.

We didn’t go into Chepstow as we were there for the races on 24 th August. It was a perfect stay. The apartment was perfect in every way. Only needed food but the farm shop had all needs. There wasn’t a pub but take own or buy in farm shop. Lovely view towards the river.

Very pretty small town with lots of pubs, cafes and eating places to choose from. The beautiful castle set on the river is obviously a big attraction and Chepstow is a great base to visit many other places. Tintern Abbey is just up the road and Raglan Castle is a must see.

Chepstow is a delightful town with many interesting attractions not the best is undoubtedly Chepstow Castle. It has been fantastically well preserved and the wonder of Tintern Abby is a must for anyone staying in or near Chepstow. Several different types of restaurants including a gem of an Italian one at the bottom of the town just below Chepstow bridge

Breakfast is good, lovely and friendly staff. Location is great as at centre of Chepstow. Parking is a little restrictive so went to car park behind hotel. which is free between 6pm to 8am. Paid a couple of pounds so could stay to 11am which is the same time as you need to leave room. I had a single room so quite small but not an issue. Hotel is old and therefore creaky which gives it a nice charm. Bar area is good with a nice outside seating area.

The location was excellent, really central for the Town Centre, Castle, Car Parking and Riverside. The Host, Lisa was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious, and being able to sit out on the veranda was a bonus, with a lovely view of Chepstow Castle, which you also had from the bedroom too. Really comfy bed and we really enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful place to stay. Jamie was a friendly, attentive host, offering tips on the local area and making sure we had everything we needed. The breakfast was great and the whole place was well thought out and well looked after. Loved the little touches like the fresh tulips. It really felt like a private getaway.

All the staff we spoke to were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a lovely location that feels nice and secluded, yet is only a short distance from the centre of Chepstow. Our room was nice and spacious with a lovely view of the golf course, and the trophy bar is a nice setting for enjoying a few drinks.

The hosts were very friendly and told us all sorts of interesting stories. I loved the full Irish breakfast! The room was comfortable, although the blankets seemed a bit dated. The area was beautiful - we loved the village of Tintern and the abbey.
