Charming old building, not sure if it's 17 or 18C. Big room, pretty view out of back window, big "sleigh" beds, which were comfortable. Bathrooms quite basic and a bit tired, but that was fine - they were clean and the whole thing good value for money.

We were warmly welcomed by the staff and well looked after during our stay. The accommodation was more than adequate for our needs, clean and tidy, comfortable beds and a good nights sleep.
The food was delicious. The breakfast choice is your normal range, the quality is high and the food well presented. You’ll certainly find the usual requirements for your brekkie and if you need anything you just have to ask.
We ate two evening meals in the hotel and they were delicious and to a high standard. Steak was cooked to the requested level and fish was battered perfectly.
Staff welcome you with a smile and charm that County Durham is famous for. A special mention to Saff for looking after us. She even took time to show me a few of the local sights. Thanks Saff.

Beautiful Village, Castle was nice and the views very serene. Quiet and could only hear the local sheep. nice little walk around the block perfect for taking our dog for a quick walk.
Village pub was not accommodating, couldn't book or pop in due to the pub being an inn and was full every night.
