If you want your skiing winter experience to be idyllic, be sure to book a room right here. Hotel on the trail + extraordinary food offer (breakfast, lunch, mid-meal and dinner) + activities and content for the youngest and super-friendly staff will make your annual event unforgettable.
The possibility of leaving the hotel directly on the ski lift and already in the first slope to feel the perfect tracks or powder trails, simply magical. Plus, while Obertauern is covered in natural snow, other surrounding ski resorts don't offer nearly as much satisfaction.

Obertauren is great for snow quality we had a week of snow when most others were struggling. The lifts are fast, new and most feel quite plush, the resort circuit links really well and nearly forms a doughnut around the town, lots of runs end up heading back to somewhere in the town, no particular runs get especially busy at the end of the day. We found some lovely Austrian huts with self and table service with great Austrian food, the Mankei Alm was particularly hospitable.
We were staying in a self catering apartment as a family, the only down side was we couldn't find anything to do in the evening, the centre consists of a only a handful of shops, there was no toboggan run open when we were there, no pool, skating or evening activities that we managed to find so if you want to have evening activities for kids or teens maybe book into one of the large Hotels with lots going on. Although this is a purpose built resort it has some charm and feels Austrian, We would certainly ski there again

If you are lucky with the weather and snow conditions, you will enjoy sunshine in the mountains - blue skies and fresh air. Definitely recommend for shorter ski breaks or with small children, as the ski area is not very big and might be too small for experienced skiers/those who whish to explore more/change ski pistes.

PROS - Freeride possibilities. All hotels in walking distance to the slopes. Snow assurance. Interesting slopes with all kind of difficulties.
CONS - Occasianal queues on the lifts (max. 5mins). Could be crowded at the weekends. Short slopes due to small elevation difference.
Breakfast and dinners are just fabulous. The owner is a master cook and you can enjoy healthy, high quality food and service. We had an amazing fondue and 5 course dinner there and as a bonus they serve various types of amazing wines.
Rooms are cozy, luxury, clean. It is cca 150m to the slope, so you can go with ski and get back on ski directly from the slope.
The owners care of your greatest comfort and relaxing time in their hotel.
We are already looking forward to book another stay in this hotel :)
The location was amazing - we could walk across the street to ski and were within 5 minutes walk of everything in Obertauern. Snow coverage was still very very good despite being late in the season. The room was large and comfortable with great amenities. The staff was extremely helpful with making reservations, answering questions, restocking the room and even helping us get laundry done.
Absolutely brilliant hotel, super friendly staff, great breakfasts, brilliantly easy to organise shuttle runs (even though two of the main lists are very close). Loved the wellness area AND they sort your lift passes out as soon as you get there. Couldn't be easier or more helpful. I travelled with friends and the room setup was perfect BUT would also be great with a family.
We return to Obertauern every year since 2009 when we have discovered it. This year we have chosen Edelweiss Hotel for the first time and we were delighted. The Hotel is great, the closest one can imagine to the ski slope, fabulous dining experience, incredible wellness centre and above all, very kind and carrying staff. We have also enjoyed, the lunch brakes at Luerzer Alm.
My stay at Obertauern Places by Valamar was exceptional! The staff were incredibly welcoming and always on hand to help, making my visit truly memorable. The room was cozy and modern, and the location couldn't be better for exploring Obertauern. Their local recommendations were spot-on, enhancing my experience. Highly recommend for a top-notch stay!

The hotel team were all very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed a tasty breakfast every morning. Our apartment was well equipped, clean and spacious. The spa facilities were lovely too. The hotel is in a great ski-in / ski-out location with a few restaurants nearby for dinner. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
A well-appointed apartment, not far from the main lift and gondola at Obertauern. It was quite clean upon arrival, the kitchen had most everything we needed (if a bit small), loved the balcony. TV and film selections were a nice touch. Wifi seemed to work well, and the tap water tasted really good!
Very new and cozy hotel with friendly hosts. Also the van service and Goran are very convenient to go and come back from the slopes. Nice breakfast and free snack (sometimes pretty big) in the afternoon. Small but nice sauna area.
