The house is lovely and in a gorgeous location. It is clean and very welcoming. Ishbel had left us milk, juice, bannock bread among many other home comforts. The local area is beautiful and the Clovenfords hotel also serves excellent food, so that’s also well worth a visit.

The holiday home has 2 bedrooms, a flat-screen TV with streaming services, a fully equipped kitchen with an oven and a microwave, a washing machine, and 1 bathroom with a bath. Towels and bed linen are available in the holiday home. The accommodation offers a fireplace.

Pergola Cottage is a lovely place to stay - well-appointed, very clean and perfectly situated for exploring the Borders - the Abbeys, Abbotsford, Traquair House and so forth. And after nearly 2 weeks in B&Bs, it was nice to be able to spread out and have a little more space to ourselves. The bed and furniture were comfy. Having our own equipped kitchen (w/garden view!) and washing machine was especially nice; there’s a small grocer in nearby (and also lovely) Melrose - the Co-Op on High Street - where you can pick up the essentials, like coffee (French Press!).

We had to stay overnight and it was perfect for us for an overnight, not a holiday: good location, and lovely hosts. No luxury but is very affordable. Also free parking place.

The staff, many of whom had worked there for decades, were welcoming, attentive and full of interesting stories about the characterful Victorian Scottish Gothic mansion housing the hotel. Our small but comfortable twin room had recently been tastefully refurbished. It had a separate stylish modern bathroom and a small private reading room. The menus were varied and the dishes perfectly cooked and well presented.

The hotel was a Beautifully restored mansion which combined modern comfort with Baronial grandeur. There were lovely views of the Eildons. The breakfast was delicious in an elegant dining room with lovely views. We had an excellent reasonably priced dinner with a good vegetarian choice. The staff were charming and helpful.

The communication with the owner was very positive and helpful and friendly. She went out of her way to make our stay pleasant. For the price there were really a lot of facilities available so great value-we even watched Netflix. Also secure parking. The accommodation is kept very clean and at a high standard. We also love the location-The train is very nearby so we had a day trip to Edinburgh. The scenery in the area is beautiful and there are historical sites to visit. Many pretty villages to visit.

This works for an intimate getaway or a wedding or business event. Great meeting places and stunning gardens and surrounds. This lovely place is in the loving care of those who are gradually upgrading the historic property. The Scottish Borders hold some of the loveliest villages in the UK. GO. Fly fishing nearby on the lovely Tweed.
