About Seminyak

Including tips for the best time to visit Seminyak

Think of Seminyak as the more mature version of neighbouring Kuta. Instead of party-loving crowds and all-night ragers, Seminyak has become an escape for Bali's expat community and their creative pursuits. Art galleries, boutique hotels, stylish beach clubs and open-air restaurants are just the start of what makes Seminyak among the cooler Bali towns.

One of Seminyak's greatest draws is its beaches, whose golden sands see far less crowds than its neighbors. From dawn to dusk, you can watch surfers tackling the waves, horseback riders tracing the waterline and traditional ceremonies where attendees dedicate offerings to the gods. From Seminyak's sands, you'll hardly ever be out of sight of a stylish beach club or two. Ku De Ta and Potato Head are particularly legendary, with bars, restaurants and pools that face the sunset.

For a glimpse of Balinese culture, pay a visit to the Petitenget Temple – a centuries-old Hindu structure near Petitenget Beach featuring a large courtyard lined with shrines. Shopping in Seminyak is another local pastime. On Jalan Laksmana, the village's main shopping strip, you'll find independent boutiques selling everything from high-end clothing to artisanal jewellery to furniture.

d'Panjor is located in calm and nice area easily accessible to good shopping areas and eateries. Walking around in the evenings is very pleasant, specifically for those who want to roam around on their own. While walking back to the hotel one evening,we were treated to a local music session unexpectedly which was really a great experience. Some of the musical instruments are very rare and generally adopted. Thanks Bali/Seminyak

Seminyak is a very busy part, but plenty accomodation of various standards. Shopping is quite good and hotels offer courtesy transport to main centre. Beach good but care should be taken to avoid swimming unless experienced.

Central location but the traffic is bad.The main street was not a pleasure to walk on.Motor bikes using footpaths as part of the road and cars parking where they like. The roads just cannot cope with the number of cars and bikes. However one bonus was our hotel was close to Livingstone Cafe which was fabulous for food and coffee.

If you like shopping for : Clothes, Artefacts, Souvenirs, Restaurants or Massage parlours ..... all within reach ..... plenty to see and do ( knock yourself out ) The area where I stayed the pathways are busy and narrow .... you are always competing with people and traffic. { so make sure you have your Wits about you and your Senses tuned in } .... But thats Bali for you !! .... I enjoyed the experience !!

Lots of great food and shopping options.

Lots of great food and shopping options. Very congested with traffic but that is pretty much par the course everywhere - you just have to accept that’s the way it is. It’s really the tourists who don’t understand how to drive in other countries, and Bali is a perfect example. You just can’t speed, and despite the risk of fines, motorcyclists still don’t wear helmets.

Seminyak is a great place for a family visit.

6 September 2024

Seminyak is a great place for a family visit. We found Legian too busy and chaotic for our liking but Seminyak was a slower, more relaxed pace. There are so many great brunch spots - Sea Circus, Neon Palms, Sisterfields, Revolver to name a few. The coffee in particular was great, better than the average Australian coffee. Our favourite evening restaurant was Gloriam Grills & Glamour (Italian), the pasta was delicious and the service was faultless. We wish we could have this experience again. We visited Seminyak Beach at about 10am which was not overly busy and we hired a couple of beach lounges which was nice. The only downside to our time was the unreliability of the Gojek drivers... they cancelled so often it was frustrating, particularly having an uncontrollable toddler and trying to get home we found this annoying. Overall an enjoyable trip and would love to return!
