Imagine watching the blue waves of the sea with sand between your toes; walking along the palm-lined streets with stretches of rice fields by your side; relaxing in quiet jungle retreats and shopping in energetic local markets. All of these experiences packaged together can be found in a village on the coast of Bali, Canggu.
Canggu is a destination that offers something for all travellers. One of the best things to do here is to sit back, sip a cocktail and relax at one of the many black-sand beaches of the place. Test the waves of the sea by bringing out your surfboards at Berawa Beach. You can learn to or practice yoga here, or unwind with an Indonesian massage. A Canggu visit is incomplete without a trip to the iconic Tanah Lot. Perched on a rock, this temple holds immense cultural importance and is an ideal location for a photoshoot.
Canggu is famous for its delectable local foods as well as its varied global cuisine. Enchant your taste buds with the mixed flavours of Balinese nasi campur (mixed rice) featuring grilled chicken, beef curry along with sambals at Denpasar's Warung Wardani. Spicy fish satay or lilit ikan is charcoal grilled to perfection and is a fine balance of spicy and sweet. Indonesia's all-time favourite, Nasi goreng (fried rice) also needs to be on your list. Topped with a fried egg and served with chicken or beef satay, this dish has the heart of millions of food lovers.

It’s busy, with the trail of motorbikes whizzing around non stop. There are good cafes, restaurants, spa / massage rooms and a mix of shops along the main roads. There’s also a lot of ongoing development and historic temples everywhere. Traffic is manic the roads are awful, no footpaths and there’s plenty of under developed facilities. But some of that is the charm that is Bali.
The location of the hotel was great.

The location of the hotel was great. Beach was a 1min walk away. Top class restaurants within walking distance and a sports bar directly opposite the property. Can get alittle noisy at night due to the close proximity of a couple of very popular night clubs but overall was ok.

We really enjoyed the food options in Canggu. There are a lot of great restaurants. However, it is not at all a place to relax. On the contrary: it is quite overwhelming. The streets are really busy, the beaches are packed and you can barely walk because there are hardly any sidewalks and millions of scooters flying past you. Unfortunately there is a lot of trash on the beaches and just overall too many tourists..... Sad to say we didn't enjoy it and probably won't be going back.

Smaller peaceful resort. Great position close to beach and shops .restaurant menu delicious and well presented . Drinks choice extensive. Recommend if needing some relaxation but still close enough to other restaurants and shops .
Canggu is a bit of a digital nomad city.

Canggu is a bit of a digital nomad city. It's great for beaches, cafes, bars etc but not quite cultural Bali if that's what you're looking for. I felt like there were more tourists/foreigners residing here than there were local people. It caters to most needs and is very convenient. There are good gyms and other service facilities. It absolutely serves a purpose.
