The dream come true in a ryokan (and affordable). I truly love the private onsen. It was bliss. The room, the yukatas, the ambience, the fact that look like is brand new construction but in a traditional aesthetic. A dream.

Offering a garden and garden view, Nagataki is located in Nakatsugawa, 13 km from Ōi and 34 km from Japan Taisho Village. The property is allergy-free and is situated 12 km from Enakyo Wonderland. It was great staying in a traditional Japanese home from the 1600's. Dinner and breakfast were served to our "house" and the onsen was great as well. It is nice spending some time away from a city or town. You are surrounded by nature!

Located in 15-minute bus ride from JR Takayama Station, Guest House & Cafe SOY is surrounded by lush greenery. Free WIFi is provided and free private parking is available on site. The Japanese breakfast was absolutely delicious. Our host, Tai, is exceptionally gracious. He picked us up at the train station, shuttled us to town, and made reservations for two delicious dinners.

Reopened after renovation in 2022, Auberge Hidanomori is situated in quiet hills, a 10-minute shuttle ride from JR Takayama Station. This has been my favorite place to stay in all of Japan. I absolutely loved the decor and the meal service. There are two private baths that you can use on a first-come, first-served basis and they were great. The hotel is extremely minimalist which goes with the theme of "letting the time pass by slowly". The dinner and breakfast are incredible and for only 7000 yen extra I would definitely recommend it to anyone staying here. They also have an extensive wine library and for a few thousand more yen you can include wine pairing with your meal. This was one of the best meals I've had in Japan, and I've dined at over a dozen Michelin-Starred places in Tokyo. It's also a brief drive over to Hida no Sato (Folk Village), and you can get a shuttle to take you there.

A remarkable ryokan. The service, the attention to detail, the beauty of the place and the comfort of the room made our stay truly memorable.

Yamakyu features classic Japanese-style accommodations with free Wi-Fi. Indoor and outdoor public baths are available for guests to relax in. Staff was wonderful. Food was wonderful. No complaints.

Located in the historical town of Magome, Tajimaya features Japanese-style accommodations in a 110-year old building. Each room features a flat-screen TV, and guests can relax in the public bath. Its a beautiful authentic place right at the central street of Magome-juku. Rooms are comfortable, clean and staff is really friendly. Dinner and breakfast were exceptional

Situated in the Okuhida Onsen district in Takayama, 29 km from Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village, Yunohirakan boasts air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi. Free private parking is available on site. Private Onsen for our family, delicious and generous Kaiseki dinner. Lots of Hida Beef!

The private onsen were superb! The breakfast was by far the best meal I ate in Japan. All this, at an extremely reasonable price. I would definitely recommend.

Located only a 3-minute walk from JR Takayama Station, K's Villa Hida-an features a kitchen equipped with an oven. Towels and bed linen are provided in this self-catering accommodation. Property was absolutely stunning and perfect for the price!
