its an old hotel but almost everything has been upgraded, except the decor is still sort of '80s. but I like a retro vibe. they didn't hook up the bidet toilets, i'm ok with that , too, there was a sign notifying customers at the front desk that the rooms have a basic toilet , not the usual "does everything" Japanese toilet. There is an elevator, which made me happy as I need, but a dozen stairs still have to be climbed. Every floor had a vending machine for drinks, with the reception area also having beer in that vending machine. Plus zillions of vending machines out front, too. One microwave available for each whole floor, next to the vending machine. I'm ok with that, too, zillions of restaurants all around the hotel , and it keeps the food stink out of the rooms. Its in the BAR district so super loud from about 10 pm to 4 am, but only if you crack open your window, which isn't necessary as the rooms have excellent A/c. The reception area also had free cookies, candies, and bouillon packets for guests ( to make soup with the hot water boiler that is in each room ) so that was a nice touch. Short walk to the tram.

The room was spacious and had all the facilities you would need. The man on the desk was very helpful and even gave me some origami as a gift!

Viking (buffet) breakfast was very tasty, above average for a business hotel. The curry had fresh vegetables added to it. The miso soup had chopped round onions and fresh buna shimeji mushrooms in it. The kombu you can add was fresh, not dried. Large egg, boiled to perfection. Five different types of salad dressing. Bacon was typical limp Japanese style but was tasty. Good frothy orange juice which tasted like it was freshly squeezed. Again, an example of how the standard of living in Japan is well above any other country in the world. In Hawaii, cheapest hotel room is $200/night, plus $50 hotel tax and $40 for parking. No toothbrush/toothpaste, soap/shampoo, pajamas, razor or all-you-can-eat breakfast. I paid around $45 for this Route Inn room!

This hotel is very conveniently located, a short 200 metre walk from the train station. There is a well stocked Albi nearby. We could do the alpine route very easily as the Dentetsu station is also very close. From our room window we could see the snow peaked mountains and lovely sunrise. The room is a little tight but well equipped and we had a comfortable stay. It was an easy train ride to Tokyo on the Shinkansen. All in all well recommended. Great place and very friendly stuff! The only thing that could be better is that there is no laundry place in the hotel, but there is a small laundry place very close to the hotel so it was convenient for us!
