Lovely first floor room in a historic mansion in Portaria. The village centre is less than 5 minutes' walk away and contains a lot of the restaurants, cafes, shops and the bus stop to Volos. The breakfast was excellent (particularly the selection of local teas), the staff were helpful and there is a nice pool for cooling off after hiking.
The 4-star hotel is situated at an altitude of 700 meters in the traditional settlement of Portaria, offering stunning views of Mount Pelion and Makrinitsa. It offers an outdoor swimming pool.

I recently stayed at the Pillion Resort, and my experience was a mix of positives and a few areas that could use improvement. Lovely welcome by the owner and staff. They were very kind and considerate towards our new adopted dog. The location was great, in the centre of this mountain village and its facilities. The hotel was charming and very clean. Breakfast was good although we had to leave the village early due to a car rally. We had the most delicious hand made pizza on the previous evening. A lovely, short but sweet stay. We would return.

One word: amazing! We loved everything about this property and the people. The apartment is new and extremely clean. A lady even came in the middle of our stay to clean and she did a fantastic job! The apartment is comfortable and well equipped and it has a beautiful view of the town and the mountains. So much we liked it that we spent every evening on the balcony with some delicious take away food and a bottle of wine. The host Despoina is the best host we have ever met, and we travel a lot. Not only is she lovely and kind, but she was always available and very quick with any questions and requests we had.
