Firstly, the people are wonderful. I would love to live here. I have been here for 4 months and have discovered many local restaurants and markets. The people are great. However, I definitely do not recommend the hostel Svanland. Cafe Laila: This popular cafe offers traditional Svan dishes and Georgian cuisine. It's a great place to try khachapuri, kubdari, and other local delicacies. Sunseti Restaurant: This restaurant offers both traditional Georgian dishes and international cuisine. It's known for its beautiful views and warm atmosphere. Cafe Panorama: This restaurant provides a dining experience with stunning views of Mestia, offering a variety of Georgian dishes. Khinkali and various meat dishes are popular here. The Old House Cafe: This cafe, housed in a traditional Svan house, offers homemade meals and a cozy atmosphere. We were in Mestia at the end of the winter season (end of March). If you want to ski relaxed and without queues in the middle of the great scenery of the Caucasus: Tetnuldi (30 to 40 minutes by car from the hotel) is an absolute insider tip!!! A smaller ski area is only 5 minutes away. Modern chairlifts, slopes well prepared......breathtaking views. It's easy to get around Mestia. The places i liked the most were: Koruldi Lakes, Tetnuldi ski resort, Ushguli and local museums in Mestia. The food was great in the local restaurants, everything highly recommended!Mariam - 10Scored 10

I was thinking Mestia was just gateway for Usyuguri Village, but the fact is not. It is nice and cozy town but very convenient as I could buy basic stuff at some shops and change money. Taking walk in early morning was also nice to take photos of the towers and overview of village.URA-ScouTech

The shared kitchen is huge and well equipped and only for guests (not shared with the host family), which again is quite rare. Each room has a little table and chairs outside and there's also tables and chairs in the garden and in the common area along with a TV and sofa, so lots of communal space. The hosts are incredible, the breakfast was delicious and the general atmosphere is exactly what you need for your holiday in Svanetia. The rooms are newly renovated and it's super clean! I also liked the softness of the bedding. We thank Nanu and Tamaz for they warmth and we hope we will come back here soon again! And do try Tamaz's cognac which was fantastic.
