This place rocks the comfort and style, keeping awesome bits from its prison days. Loved having the toilet right there in the room and our own shower setup, plus they hook you up with fresh towels, a cozy bathrobe, and all the shower goodies. And being right at the end of the West Highland Way? Couldn't ask for a better spot to crash after that trek!

FAQs about hotels in Fort William

In the Shadow of Ben Nevis

Fort William is shadowed by Great Britain’s highest peak, Ben Nevis, and lies on the shores of pretty Loch Linnhe. The Scottish Highland’s 2nd biggest city attracts hordes of hikers, climbers and mountain bikers, enhancing its self-proclaimed reputation as the ‘outdoor capital of Scotland’.

In the city centre, on High Street, is the West Highland Museum that explains local Highland history. The West Highland Way is a famous, long-distance walking route that begins and ends just outside Fort William.

The Nevis Range ski centre and Nevis Range gondola provides a stunning view of the Great Glen. A downhill mountain-biking track also begins here. This breath-taking track has hosted numerous world cups as well as the 2007 World Championships. Stop along the way to try the local whiskey at Ben Nevis Distillery.

Named after William of Orange, Fort William has been home to the Clan Cameron for many generations. Booking.com invites you to soak up the outdoor highlights and history of this charming city and surrounding countryside with its extensive range of hotels, bed and breakfasts and guest houses.

Pre-booked The Jacobite Steam Train for our return trip from Fort William to Mallaig. Walked along the beach to see the Corpach Shipwreck located between Corpach and Caol. In Fort William some of the tourist shops were open in the evening until 10pm. Walked up Neptune's Stair Case - the 8 canal locks - to take photographs of the boats moored at the top. Stopped at a craft shop next to the canal. Drove to Spean Bridge (10 miles approx) to visit a Woollen Mill Shop.

Fort William as a town needs investment, depending on why you are there I suppose would change your opinion. Ben nevis 10 mins away, beautiful loch on doorstep fishing , climbing walking, down hill cycling, ski ing, diving all plus points. Night time especially week night useless. Morar and Mallaig to the North beautiful and in summer amazing beach at Morar. If you are there for hobby or sport great base camp, if you are a tourist and like entertainment at night during the week go somewhere else.

Fort William was as nice as usual however please note certain businesses are only open during tourist season. We also enjoyed filling up on the gondolas at Nevis Range. I must say though, try and avoid Caledonia hotel. The toilet was like what you get in a nursery and my private parts in the water. Carpet threadbare, wallpaper coming off the walls due to dampness, a very uncomfortable bed, adjoining door that we were not made aware of. Electricity was off on arrival and due to my dust allergies and at 3pm the room had not been cleaned, we left and checked in later. There was still dirt in the room and at the top of the bed, I caughed thru the night both nights. When it rained you could hear a loud drip from within the wall cavity. I'm not a confrontational person and didn't feel comfortable bringing the issues up with reception, so just be warned. The lift was out of order too. Beware room 220!!! Such shame being a brilliant location .

Fort William is a nice little town very well located.

Fort William is a nice little town very well located. It's ten minutes away from Ben Nevis and 45mn from Glencoe ski resort. Before that, you have all the Glencoe mountains to explore. There are still a lot to do during winter, even if snow sports are not an option due to lack of snow and/or high winds. You have the West Highland Museum, a brand new movie theatre, the Ben Nevis distillery, an indoor climbing centre, etc.

This spacious 4-bed studio was wonderfully clean & comfortable, with great mattresses and everything you would need for a relaxing Fort William stay (especially loved little touches like the bathroom's local soap). We specifically stayed in Fort William to travel on the Jacobite train. The ability to do a load of laundry mid-trip was a real relief and primary attraction to this particular lodging. Joanne (the off-site host) was a clear and gracious communicator.

Lovely view of the harbor in Fort William - great balcony for morning coffee or evening cocktails. The apartment had all the amenities needed for a large family group - loads of sleeping space, towels and a large pleasant kitchen fully equipped. We used this apartment as a central hub for outings to Ben Nevis, the Jacobite train and golfing at Glencoe. Easy walk to downtown which was full of great shops and plenty of bars and restaurants.

We were in Fort William to climb Ben Nevis. We wanted to stay somewhere quiet and not in a hotel. We came across Number 6 and it was everything we wanted, clean (new and well looked after, the place looked and smelled great), quiet (didn't hear a peep), had a small pantry with kettle, microwave, fridge/freezer etc. Some goodies were also supplied....great job guys, really liked the place. TV had on demand, Netflix and Prime :)

The B&B was cozy and comfortable. The room was large and the shower was amazing. The bed was very comfy. They provided lots of shower accessories The room’s walls are a little thin so keep that in mind :). The breakfast was delicious with many options for continental and a choice of hot. We walked into Fort William and it only took us 25 minutes. A lovely little high street to explore.

The picture of the hotel looked very different to what was advertised. Corridors of the hotel looked very dated, however the room was clean although not cleaned on our second day, location good but you needed to drive into Fort William. Bar staff a bit thin on the ground on the one night we had a drink there.
