The coast from Igalo to the ferry at Kamenari is served by Blue Bus Route 1 - but only in one direction; return is by a different route. The are free public conveniences - adjacent to a public park. Route 1 does not serve the bus station but Route 2 does. The town is renown for its steps but I found the route between the main square and the bus station less challenging than central routes in other towns. An advantage is that the main streets flow with the contours and are gentle when moving between them. Towns do not excite me and I did not explore in any depth but I sense that this town has resisted the onslaught of homogeneity and that it has managed to survive economically. You have to be fit fo you to visit all the city (a lot of steps). The food was amazing, sometimes it’s cheaper to go to a restaurant than to cook yourself at home. Herceg Novi is great if you don't want something extreme tourist like Kotor. The long walking boulevard along the seaside offers many bars, restaurants and beaches. You'll find a wide range of accommodations from fancy hotels to hostels and many vacation flats. I had a nice dinner twice at Yacht Club Restaurant along the boulevard. Top service, reasonable prices and a beautiful view. Keep in mind though that most of the city is built uphill so plenty of climbing to do.AndyBelgium - 10Scored 10

Wonderful beaches. not too busy. The sea water is slightly cool, wonderful for hot August days. Lots of restaurants at reasonable prices. Traveling by bus is comfortable and very cheap. 1 euro, but sometimes very crowded, especially in the evening.

As the apartment is located on a hill be awe relief that you’ll need to climb some stairs which however is rewarded by a fantastic view over the bay of Herceg Novi. The owner has an agreement with the neighbours so that the car can be parked for a moment at their parking spot to unload the luggage. Otherwise there is the possibility to park the car at the owner’s flat just few hundred meters further.

Kamenari is a relaxed non touristy area / we stayed 3 nights first in Kotor then to Hotel Capitano, I recommend to anybody. I would suggest it is best to have a hire car (can visit Perast, Herceg Novi etc this way). I already miss the beautiful bedroom and wonderful hospitality ♥️

I was on the way and I booked the hotel around a hour before I reached there. I had some difficulties on finding the address with Google Maps and I called the owner several times. Everytime he answered promptly and helped me to get oriented. Yes, because of the construction's boom in Montenegro you may have sometimes difficulties on finding the address right away. But, its ok, - you may ask the people and they will always help.
