Hastings is a gem that i hadn't discovered before even though it is only two hours away from our home by car! it can certainly give Brighton a run for its money! I hadn't appreciate that it is so big and therefore staying in St Leonards is quite a stretch by foot. We did use a bus though on one occasion which would work well if you had longer to figure it all out. In the future I would seriously consider staying longer there. The May day events were so well organised too and every pub ( The Smugglers) and restaurant ( the Thai bookshop in George Street, Webbe's sea food restaurant on the sea frornt and Fagins in George Street)we went into we were greeted wholeheartedly-despite it being busy. The food in each was excellent.

I love Hastings. But I don’t appreciate it when the apartment I booked didn’t happen to exist.I had to book another place which was fantastic. The whole experience was stressful and not welcome, it was supposed to be a relaxing break.

Your hotel is in an excellent position for both Hastings and Bexhill.Good bus service too.We prefere the old part of Hastings...lots of quaint shops, eateries and history. But we also like the Priory shopping mall so all in all both husband and I satisfied. Will book for longer next time.Popped into Mcdonalds but the hotel restaurant suited all our needs.

Hastings has weathered recent years rather better than many...

Hastings has weathered recent years rather better than many towns. The Old Town area which was a little run down on my last visit has now been restored with many restaurants and the narrow streets had a friendly vibe missing from places like The Lanes in Brighton. The town centre is nothing special but only has a few empty shops. St Leonards seems to be its more upmarket twin although the transition between towns is seamless. The coastal area is varied including an under cover "bottle alley" and some good coffee shops (Goat Ledge being my favourite with a hippy vibe). It also felt safe with groups of people of all ages just enjoying being outdoors by the sea with some music. There seem to be plentiful buses to explore further afield and there are two funicular lifts to the top of the cliffs for a more scenic view and to visit the castle. Other towns on the south coast may have a better reputation, but I doubt that you'd get a hotel with sea view at such an affordable price and the locals are universally friendly.

Being a resident of Hastings for most of my life, The town like many others has it's up and downs, The area of St Leonards is peppered with bars and eateries as is the Old town of Hastings. I can't recommend enough an Italian gem La Bella Vista on the seafront of St Leonards.

Hastings always has a lot to offer but going off season...

Hastings always has a lot to offer but going off season means a lot of the places are not open. But there is still plenty to see and do good variety of coffee shops restaurants and bars to suit all tastes. St Leonard’s, Bexhill, Eastbourne and Brighton are all within driving distance. George st has loads of quirky shops to browse in. In peak season the fair ground and amusement arcades are great for the kids. Highly recommended. Maggies is best for fish & chips Two bulls for steak. Or go to Bentleys steakhouse in bexhill for the best steak experience plenty of Italian eateries. And there are 3 great wet fish and seafood outlets at Rockanoor

The house was amazing, it was a historians dream, we loved looking at all the artifacts and pictures around the house. The breakfast was fab, there was so much choice. We had tea and coffee facilities in the room, and it was nice not to have a TV in the room. The welcome was lovely and the host made us feel at home. We would definitely stay here again if we visits Hastings again. Easy to park right outside the house. Thank you for a wonderful experience, the photos do not do it justice. The hotel should be upgraded to a 3 star hotel

Always first class. Thank you, what luxury & comfort. Considering around same price there is a sub standard sea front Hotel offering rooms ~ but the Restaurant adjoining is a worth a visit ~. the lower priced choice will always be this Hastings room when available. Brydges blows a lot of its competition out of the water. Love it, comfortable. Clean. Hygienic. Oh .. and a supply of real coffee, that .. is customer service! Friendly and kind, approachable management .

The decor and furnishing in this lovely Victorian house is really interesting with many lovely pictures, books and artefacts from around the world. The breakfast was exceptional a wide range of food of a high standard. We enjoyed eating on the large communal table beautifully laid out and met some really interesting fellow guests from a variety of countries. How a small hotel in a quiet street in Hastings attracted such a cosmopolitan clientele was surprising.

Like spending a night in the home of a wealthy Victorian writer. Beautiful, authentic project of a home and garden whose owners allow privileged access to during their stay. If you have an interest in antiques doesn’t have to be this period - you will love it. Hosts are welcoming and willing to talk about their passion or not as you wishes excellent value and most interesting stay in Hastings area. We will go back - wonderful stay

The hotel location is fantastic- right on the seafront and only a short walk away from all the fun in Hastings. Breakfast buffet was great, with a lot of choice. Restaurant staff were all very attentive and kind. Our second room was much better and more quiet after having to change due to being placed next to a lift. Everything was very clean and reception staff were helpful and happy. We will definitely stay again.

We loved this hotel. The building and garden are beautiful and the family room was lovely with fantastic views. The cold breakfast was ok but definitely a weakness as the room was not cheap. The owners were very kind and the place is spotless. We would absolutely recommend it if you visit Hastings. What a great town! There is lots to do and see, specially with children.

This is probably (for us) the best hotel in Hastings 😍 Situated between the Old Town and Town Center. We had the room with balcony. It has the best view. Downstairs there is the fish and chips shop. 🤤 We enjoyed breakfast at the Cornish Bakery and at Petit Fi. Evenings in Ye Old Pump House, and around the corner The Jenny Lind. All within walking distance.

So lovely, the house is just gorgeous. The bed was comfy, very clean, lovingly decorated, very quiet. After a long day the soaking bath was great, as was the shower. Breakfast was delicious! The hosts Michael and Olivia were a wonderful and lovely couple, if we ever are in the Hastings area we would happily stay again. Thank you kindly for a great stay.

The hotel has a nostalgic feel and a time long past but forever captured. Rooms are large and as I was there to meet family I did not spend much time in the bar or lounges. Breakfast was good but prefer service rather than help yourself. Bacon needs to be cooked properly and eggs will get rubbery waiting for guests to arrive for their breakfasts.

Well it wasn't the fault of the hotel that they had no water so we couldn't shower but as we couldn't get a room anywhere else in Hastings we decided to stay put. Because we stayed under adverse conditions I thought management may have given us a price reduction or a free breakfast but they didn't

Best Wifi/internet connection I've seen in a Hotel, ever. The ensuite was good, shower was very easy to use. And it's proximity to the "Old Town" of Hastings and the town centre means plenty of shops, cafés and restaurants within walking distance.
