The Quintessential French Riveria Town

Since Queen Victoria made this her favourite vacation destination in the 19th century, everyone has been heading south to discover what is so nice. Nice doesn’t disappoint.

Whether you fly in to the Nice Côte d'Azur Airport or you’re on your way back on a ferry from Corsica or Italy, be sure to stroll along the famous pebble lined beach and enjoy the tantalising goods on offer from Cours Saleya Market.

Climb the winding leafy path to the top of Parc de la Colline du Château and gaze down upon the expansive aquamarine dream that is the Côte d'Azur. Just behind this park is the famous Cimetière du Château, a haunting reminder of a bygone era. Nice is what you choose to make of it: beaches, sea air, wonderful restaurants, snack bars, musical performances, artisan crafts, warm, welcoming shops, amazing French bread, museums, easy walking as far as you like, beautiful parks with fragrant blossoms, a tram that runs frequently whether you're going to the airport or other sites in Nice...

WE explored Nice on the first day and then went to Cannes and Antibes the 2nd day and Montecarlo on the 3rd day. Ideal place to look around Cote d'azur. I booked the train ticket on trainline (using my app) and did not have to wait in the queue or try to translate from french to english. But you need to book the restaurants if you want a good meal.

We are not beach people but we loved the location and warm weather, offering the possibility of sitting on the beach to enjoy the view. The weather was excellent. We loved the gardens and the one at Villa Ephrussi is a must! There were museums to visit and plenty of restaurants with excellent variety between local food and others such as sushi, vegetarian and also supermarkets and shops. La Pilha Leva is a best location to try local specialities. Transportation is easy and cheap. Nice is an excellent base to visit other areas such as Villefranche, Eze, Monaco, and Menton. Lots of excellent walks; the coastal ath from Nice to Villefranche is dramatic and beautiful. We walked up the hill to Cimiez and Cascaide de Gairut. Lots of interesting Belle Epoque architecture and history. It's a lovely place for a holiday.

Nice was a surprising city for us.

Nice was a surprising city for us. After 19 years of doing city trips, we are now arriving at the smaller cities. But Nice is so nice. A very compact city, where you can do a lot on foot. There is a hop-on hop bus, but the tour is not spectacular. However, the tourist train is great fun and takes you to the mountain with such a beautiful view, highly recommended. I also recommend going to Monaco and Monte Carlo from Nice. We did this through Tripadvisor and it was so fun and beautiful.

Great holiday destination, the promenade is perfect for walking, especially with a baby in a stroller. So many great restaurants within a short distance of each other. The tram is very clean and accessible and so convenient to get to and from the airport. Overall, the pavements, promenade and general area were spotlessly clean. It felt like a very safe location.

Great facilities, kitchen really kitted out with anything you could need. Big and spacious, which to be honest we didn’t expect and so was a nice surprise. Location was good, and not a bad thing (you should know before you get there!) but most days do end up with a 20-30minute walk home if you’re spending time in the old town! But Rue de France, the road the property is on, has loads of places to eat and drink less than 10 minutes away Great value for money, would definitely stay again and can see myself going back to Nice for sure!

I booked in very late last minute and staff were extremely accommodating. 2/3 minute walk from the train station, bed was comfy, room was perfect temperature and extremely quiet. The hotel was happy to store my luggage the following day whilst I explored the city, and arranged a taxi for me to get to the airport later and even sorted me out with a coffee whilst I waited! Hotel was well situated for exploring Nice - didn’t take too long to walk to the beach/centre/old town etc. would happily stay again if I’m ever back in Nice.

Stuff was super nice and helpful, breakfast was amazing, with so many food variations. Hotel was very nice, for France room was spacious. We loved the location, there are so many walking distance transportation options. The street is very quiet and the room also. We had a room with a balcony which we would recommend. Across the hotel there is a small shop if you arrive late you can buy some food, drinks etc. we felt very safe in the neighbourhood, we had late night walks. We would recommend this for your staying.

Very convenient to the airport, the tram and the train station. Surprisingly you could not hear the airplanes-very well insulated from sound. The staff went out of their way to help us with some luggage storage issues which made a big difference in our multi-faceted trip using this hotel as a base to visit several other countries in addition to the Côte d’Azur. We took the tram to old town Nice, the train to Cannes, and planes to Spain and then to the US- very convenient, especially with airport shuttle.

The location was the best, right in the heart of Nice, got the tram straight from the airport and the hotel was a few steps away, also walking distance to the beach. Also, to note this place is VERY cheap for Nice so you get exactly what you pay for, don't expect a 5 star hotel when paying this small price. It's a great budget friendly option for those who want to stay in the centre of Nice, ideal for young couple or solo traveller.

Came here on our honeymoon and it was amazing! I don’t normally leave reviews, but Joel and his staff made our trip to France a great experience. They made you feel like you were staying with old friends rather than at a Hotel. Also, the room was very nice, and modern, which is not the case for most hotels in Nice. We loved that the location was so close to old town (including many restaurants and bakery's), and super close to two different tram lines to get to the airport and Nice-Ville train station. The staff was also INCREDIBLY kind, and we could leave our luggage at the hotel after checking out since our flight was late at night. By far the best value for money hotel in Nice we've stayed at so far! Would very much recommend.
