WE explored Nice on the first day and then went to Cannes and Antibes the 2nd day and Montecarlo on the 3rd day. Ideal place to look around Cote d'azur. I booked the train ticket on trainline (using my app) and did not have to wait in the queue or try to translate from french to english. We are not beach people but we loved the location and warm weather, offering the possibility of sitting on the beach to enjoy the view. The weather was excellent. We loved the gardens and the one at Villa Ephrussi is a must! There were museums to visit and plenty of restaurants with excellent variety between local food and others such as sushi, vegetarian and also supermarkets and shops. La Pilha Leva is a best location to try local specialities. Transportation is easy and cheap. Nice is an excellent base to visit other areas such as Villefranche, Eze, Monaco, and Menton. Lots of excellent walks; the coastal ath from Nice to Villefranche is dramatic and beautiful. We walked up the hill to Cimiez and Cascaide de Gairut. Lots of interesting Belle Epoque architecture and history. It's a lovely place for a holiday.

Nice was a surprising city for us. After 19 years of doing city trips, we are now arriving at the smaller cities. But Nice is so nice. A very compact city, where you can do a lot on foot. There is a hop-on hop bus, but the tour is not spectacular. However, the tourist train is great fun and takes you to the mountain with such a beautiful view, highly recommended. I also recommend going to Monaco and Monte Carlo from Nice. We did this through Tripadvisor and it was so fun and beautiful.JeanineNetherlands - 10Scored 10

Great holiday destination, the promenade is perfect for walking, especially with a baby in a stroller. So many great restaurants within a short distance of each other. The tram is very clean and accessible and so convenient to get to and from the airport. Overall, the pavements, promenade and general area were spotlessly clean. It felt like a very safe location.
