The fashionable Normandy resort of Deauville is famed for its international film festival that attracts worldwide celebrities. The most famous names from the silver screen are immortalised on the entrances to changing rooms lining the wooden, beachfront boardwalk – the Promenade des Planches.
The beach itself is a long stretch of golden sand overlooked by exclusive residences, luxury hotels and the chic casino which is most spectacular at night. As you would expect of such a resort, Deauville also has a golf course, marina housing fancy yachts, and a racecourse. Some of France’s largest horse training facilities are here, and the surrounding area is full of thoroughbred studs.
One of these was once owned by the Strassburger family who lived in one of Deauville’s most beautiful houses – the Villa Strassburger. Its half-timbered elements and multi-angled roof are typical of the town’s architecture. Other similar examples include boutique shops and the Hotel Normandy, a historic property now owned by the Barrière group who also run the elegant Hotel Royal overlooking a seafront park.
In addition to these 5-star hotels, Booking.com offers holiday homes near Deauville Airport, and cheap apartments by the train station which also serves the Parisian Riviera town of Trouville across the River Touques.

Deauville is an upmarket seaside town, pleasantly twinned (other side of estuary) with Trouville, which is less affluent but still very nice. It’s a little pricey, but that comes with the territory.
Plenty of shops, including designer brands. The town has a nice feel when you walk the streets and is pleasantly developed and clean.

I have stayed in Deauville before - this time it was just a stopover on my way to LeHavre. Deauville is very attractive with a massive beach, good shops and beautiful architecture. Ideal for a long weekend stay.
Last trip I had dinner at the nearby Campanile. Buffet was extremely good.

A beautiful, very upmarket seaside resort.
A beautiful, very upmarket seaside resort. If you are going to get run over in Deauville, it will probably be by a Ferrari or an Aston Martin! A great beach with a beautiful boardwalk. The beach is so huge I doubt it will ever actually be full. Good choice of restaurants to suit most budgets. Le Week End was particularly good and great value.

Deauville is a vibrant town with a vast choice of great restaurants and shops. The beach is only a few minutes walk from the hotel.
Trouville is a 15/20minute walk again a vast choice of restaurants, the fish market is great and gets very busy.
The horse racing is great in Deauville with two tracks one within walking distance, the other just a cab ride. There is also an equestrian centre which host various levels of competitions.
The staff at the hotel very helpful especially Emilie on the reception and Jean-Francois who runs the restaurant.
The villa is ideally located by the beach and the center of Deauville.
The building is amazing, huge and full of arts that make you feel this old lady has some stories to tell.
Deauville does not have safe places to let puppies run without leach. And the garden was perfect for us and our puppy. It’s a calm and perfect to enjoy the sun.
Delphine and her husband are kind and helpful.
We are really grateful to have been able to spend our weekend in this wonderful place filled with people who love dogs 🐶
Hotel is beautiful, comfortable and very close to the attractions. The breakfast was absolutely amazing. The experience at this hotel was great, they were so lovely and kind. The services and employees were a high point. I went with two dogs and they were all so nice with us, prepared snacks for the dogs and everything they needed to be comfortable. The room is very cozy and excellent for a romantic stay. Everything was perfect.
The hotel is astonishing and it has a lot of character. It’s in itself worth a visit. Its filled with a lot of interesting things, from furniture to wallpaper. Very nice. The breakfast was really good and you get a nice and personal service. You feel welcomed and it’s possible to speak English.
The location is good. 15 minutes drive to deauville.
There was nothing wrong with the hotel, we just went on and stayed in some amazing places that weren't 'chain' hotels so the one in Deauville, whilst not lacking anything, didn't compare as well to some of the other places we stayed. One outstanding member of the team was Jessica on the front desk - above and beyond.
Rooms are standardized, clean, bright and ergonomical, well arranged, functional.
The hotel is not far from sea shore.
The morning breakfast at the restaurant l'étage is great in quantity and quality.
This hotel is Way better hotel to sleep at than the fake 5 stars barriere le normandy
As with all Campanile Hotels the rooms were comfortable and easily accessed. We ate in the Restaurant and the food as usual was excellent. It is well placed and is only a short drive into Deauville which is always a treat. Parking is easy and the staff were friendly and welcoming.
perfectly situated in Deauville and easy to walk to Trouville, the hotel is new, very interesting concept of a "family living". the stuff is friendly and ready to help with anything. check-in was possible before the regular time, which was a nice plus. definitely to come back.
The hotel, decoration , the location , the room, the bed, the bed sheets, the staff. Everything was amazing.
Bonus : big TV screen you can connect with your phone to watch Netflix
You have also sound system in your room and bathroom to connect phone music
The location was very good, in the center of Deauville, nevertheless our room was looking over the street and the street was very noisy. We woke up couple of times due to construcrion and van noises. If you plan to stay ask for a room on the garden side.
The hotel had a convenient location in the city center of Deauville, within walking distance to the market square. The staff was courteous and welcoming. The room was clean. The breakfast buffet was also good with a wide choice of quality foods.
I had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The staff were fantastic and always on hand (even via whatsapp) to help with any questions. The breakfast was delicious and included fresh pastries from the bakery next door. Would stay again.
The hotel is really close to the beach of Deauville and the rooms are really clean and have a little terrace. Additionally the hotel has a small fitness room and a pool. Great choice, although a little bit expensive.
Hôtel very comfortable and very well placed. The owner/manager is really nice and he is taking care to all details. He will make sure you have nice moment.
Perfect hotel to visit Deauville at reasonable price.
I am in hospitality business so we can get on the east side to criticize when experiences isn’t up to standards.
But here at the Royal hotel the staffing were perfectly train pleasant and professional.
Great location, city center. Walking distance from everything. The hotel does not look very remarkable from outside but it does everything it says. Staff is friendly. Room was quiet and cleaned.
The hotel was very well located in the center of Deauville. Staff was very helpful, accepted to keep our bags the whole day. Big plus: the breakfast is amazing, all fresh local products.
