Lovely hospitality and friendly staff. Old world charm. Yummy breakfast. Fires and piano player at night. Spacious clean room. We found it better than our stay at Echoes overall

Fireplace was a nice touch in the lounge area in the afternoon and a close walk to an updated RSL if that’s your venue style. Warm, dry, comfortable bed. Nice selection for a light breakfast. That’s where it ended for us.

The massage chair in the room looks funny, but boy did we make good use of it. The shower with its many lights and settings was also a pleasure.
Staff were friendly and helpful

In the heart of the Blue Mountains with lots of eating options. Lots of great walks nearby. The 3 sisters are within walking distance so you can avoid the parking charges recently implemented in the area.

Katoomba main street is still struggling after covid with quite a few empty shop fronts however mother nature and her spectacular views make up for this. Scenic World as the main draw is always worth the trip and Nocturnal event is a new way to experience the Valley. Of course Echo Point and 3 sisters are a must as is Govetts Leap lookout. So many pretty towns around like Leura and if you have time take a little side teip to Lithgow. Highly recommend this trip. Parking is an issue around the town centre and usual tourist attractions but worth dealing with anyway.

Direct train from Sydney.
Direct train from Sydney. Very quaint traditional old mining town, old fashioned 'high street' with plenty of places to stay and eat. We stayed in the grand Carrington Hotel which has a lot of history as part of the evolution of the town. Our main reason for visiting was to easily access the Katoomba based hop-on/off bus to visit The Blue Mountains. This worked perfectly and as well as seeing Katoomba and the blue Mountains, we also got to visit the pretty neighbouring village of Leura which is included in the route. We felt we made a very good choice.

Katoomba has everything you will need or find in a regional town. The large supermarkets are available and open for longer hours for groceries (Aldi, Coles, Woolworths). The shops and restaurants close early, so check times and organise around that. There are limited number of restaurants and eateries in town. We ate at Rustico - this place is almost always full (even on weekdays) - best book ahead. We had one sunny day out of 3 days. Luckily that was enough to visit Scenic World, do the rides and walk around. We recommend taking the Blue Mountains Explorer Bus (hop-on hop-off) to minimise driving. There are many easy to medium walks along the clifftops.

The new Cliff Top walk to Wentworth Falls was excellent.
The new Cliff Top walk to Wentworth Falls was excellent. Just right level for me. It would be good if the shuttle buses went to Gordon Falls and Leura as I had to walk back along the roads a lot. Also access to the walk at Scenic World was closed, which was annoying as the walk is advertised to start there. It was Easter Sunday and very busy but this should have been made clear perhaps with signs at Katoomba Falls where the walk actually started from. I ate at 8 Things, great value and the RSL which was not so great. The Pool of Siloam is one of the best things in the mountains I discovered this weekend.

The town is lovely, great places to eat and drink, lots of attractions and view points, short drives to many other places. I really enjoyed it. One thing i would mention, as we were caught out with this, the whole town stops serving food at 8pm, so you do have to choose between watching the sunset and eating.
Staying at this hotel is like being wrapped in a cozy blanket of luxury, with views that could make even the most seasoned traveler pinch themselves just to check if it's real. The scenery outside the window is so stunning, it's like Mother Nature hired a personal decorator. And let's talk about the rooms - they're so lovely, I half expected them to tuck me in at night and read me a bedtime story. It's like sleeping in a cloud made of marshmallows and dreams.
I liked the cleanliness and comfiness of the room at the Metropolis Hotel. I was moved here from Echo Point Motel due to maintenance issue and was kindly advised by the staff on the day. Check in and out was seamless. The Metropolis gives off vintage vibes. The facilities are great. The Metropolis location is also in the Katoomba CBD making it easy and convenient to get food & explore during any weather (raining during my stay).
Great location in the centre of Katoomba, within walking distance of access to the falls walks.
Super friendly staff, very friendly vibe. People staying were mostly younger travellers, but a good smattering of families with children and grey-haired travellers such as us.
The large kitchen was well equipped and mostly clean, and the communal eating and chilling spaces were also welcome.
Car park round the back.
Nice and very quiet location. I have made a feedback after my last stay in the review. That is instead of the bulky massage chair inside the room, a set of table and chairs is better. This time I had the same room with a table & chairs. That makes the room more spacious indeed and nice. Thanks for taking up the suggestion. I would love to go back and stay again if I visit Katoomba in the future.
I like this place very much ..very nice and quiet place away from the town.I love to stay in heritage hotels when I can feel cosy and comfortable. My room was very nice and beautifully decorated. As well the price was affordable where other places became too expensive.I will be back my favourite room number is .? It is mine and Iam not sharing with anyone.
It was exactly what I needed and at a good price.
it is perfectly located in katoomba, on the main strip, but katoomba is a quiet place so it’s not loud.
easy walking to all the food/cute shops you need and also 20-30 minute walk to the three sisters and cascades (but I believe there is also a bus).
It is also very clean and comfortable.
The Hotel is beautiful and we enjoyed the continental breakfast was delicious. We loved the pastries and the coffee was good.
The location of the Carrington hotel is fantastic. It's nice and close to the train station and cafes and restaurants.
It is an excellent location with all the facilities that you would expect for the cost. Have stayed here several times and recommended this hotel to many friends. In summary, affordable, clean, no frills and great location in Katoomba.
The view from the room was superb, unblocked views of the mountains from both inside the room and out on the balcony! Also a bonus to have access to its sister hotel Lilianfels facilities and amenities, loved the heated indoor pool :)
I appreciated that my room was accessible after office hours. Everything was clean and the beds were comfortable. The hotel is located near Echo Point, where the Three Sisters are and it is a short drive to the Katoomba shops.
location was nice, friendly family business, if u want to see the beauty around it is easy to move with the public transportation, bus to touristic points at the door. katoomba is lovely for walking in nature.
Fantastic location, easy walking distance to the main street of Katoomba. It is less than 2km to walk to Leura Mall too! The hotel has lots of character and the pool was nice after doing a long hike.
Wonderful period hotel with modern facilities. Large clean room and bathroom. Easy walk to town and Katoomba falls etc and train station. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly.
The Metropole is a lovely traditional hotel in a good location in Katoomba. Our room was not one of the refurbished ones but was fine for an overnight stay given the very reasonable cost.
