I was thrilled that the begonias in the botanic gardens were still in full bloom ( mid April) . I was moved by the exhibit on the Eureka Stockage. I was impressed with the large number of elegant historic buildings in the city.

Ballarat has much to offer all ages.
Ballarat has much to offer all ages. Plenty for young children, teenagers, young adults and older adults. It has many good places to eat, all reasonably priced, from coffee shops, up market restaurants and good pub bistro food. Ballarat is easy to get around, just use google maps or your navcam

A wonderful city with history, family experiences and a great lake surrounded by trees, play equipment and restaurants. Lots of experiences for families to enjoy especially the Eureka Discovery Centre , Sovereign Hill settlement and the Aura night show, Art Museum and Avenue of Honour. The city also has excellent restaurants and hotels to choose from for families or couples.
Loved the pool, one of the nicest pools I’ve been in , the staff around the motel were super friendly and the food and pub connected was amazing , we thought we’d try it on day 1 and assumed we’d try other places to eat but we returned breakfast, lunch and dinner all weekend , loved it and had a great atmosphere for drinks too . To top it all of checkout was 11am not 10am like all the 5 star hotels I’ve stayed in . Highly recommend this place if you want to stay in Ballarat as the value for money is outstanding
Perfectly situated right in the middle of Ballarat.
Two well set up rooms, both with nice en-suite.
Upstairs kitchen/living room was well appointed and lovely furniture. Was too hot to go outside on upper balcony and we had to keep the blinds down during the day. But it was really hot (for Ballarat!)
Garage couldn’t take my work van but would fit normal compact or SUV fine.
Pretty much faultless, and great value for money for two work colleagues when compared to a hotel.
Don’t judge a book by its cover!! We were so pleasantly surprised when we opened the door to our room. It was clean and spacious for our family of 4, with a big bathroom with big fluffy towels. It’s in a great location, (close to sovereign hill which was a bonus for us) and was really well priced. Huge bed too!
The room was spacious, I liked that it had a separate living area. The hotel team is very friendly and did their best to accommodate for our needs. I like that they stock up the room with breakfast basics every day (bread, cereals, jam, butter, coffee, milk, joice etc.)
Great room; quiet; spa was excellent; bed very comfortable. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Highly recommend this hotel for short or longer stays. have booked again for this coming Friday and need to do some business in Ballarat on Saturday
Unfriendly RACIST staff. I would never recommend this hotel or any future visits to people of colour to visit Ballarat. We encountered many racists within the 24hrs we were there. It’s was unbelievable.
Proud Pauline Hanson lovers. Uneducated gronks
Beautiful location.
Very close to major supermarkets and food shops.
Big rooms. We booked a family room and it had 5 beds (4 single beds and one queen).
The hotel staff was great, especially the lady at the reception.
Beautifully renovated and tastefully decorated. Warm, inviting and cozy. Perfect for our little family to refresh ourselves. A home away from home. Perfectly located only a short stroll from Ballarat cbd.
The Barkly is my 'go to' hotel when in Ballarat, which is approximately every 2-3 months! Great value and location, comfortable beds and spotlessly clean - what more could you ask?
Spacious, handy kitchen for some simple family meals. Fresh towels/clean bins after our first night ( only stayed for 2 nights, most motels we stayed in didn't bother to check)
It was absolutely amazing! The house was beautiful and had everything we could possibly need.
This is definitely going to our go to place every time we visit Ballarat!
