Corte is a good place to do some hiking as the mountains and hills are stunning. We found the people in Corte were not as friendly as other places in Corsica we visited- which does make a differnce!
Personally I would skip Corte and stay longer somewhere else (Porto or Calvi were exceptional)

A really scenic town in a dramatic mountain setting.
A really scenic town in a dramatic mountain setting. Restonica Gorges are within a short distance and highly recommended for the 45 minute drive up and then 45 minute drive back down again as it has amazing scenery. The train station is a great point to get the scenic mountain railway to Vizzavona from - but be aware that the trains are pretty infrequent and during October there are absolutely no facilities at Vizzavona open - no toilets, drinks or snacks available. And you might have an hour and a half wait there for the return train !!

We passed through twice in our travels. The first time we saw the fortress and museum which helped a lot in understanding the country and culture. The second time we used it as a sight to see other places in the area, like the Vallee Restonica.

The city is a center for hiking that has a lot of energy provided by the five thousand university students. You can get here by the train from Bastia, Calvi or Ajaccio. We ate at the Trattoria both nights we were there. The table for two at the very back is best, both of you get a cushioned bench and the servers don’t need to get by you.

A rather forbidding looking but characterful old town, right in the centre of Corsica. Good for access to scenic mountains.
We took a 40 min. train trip through the mountains to Vivazzone and back.
A good meal at A Casa de l'Orsu.

The best thing for me was the walk from Corte along the Tavignano gorge. Stunning scenery. But I had difficulty findng the start.
A detailed map at the apartment would have helped.
There were so many eating places to choose from. I only ate out once and it was disappointing.
Although I called the host who was helpful, I couldn't get wi fi.
Corte is a really relaxed town, full of character and interest.
As an artist I loved the Contemporary Art museum , esp its location. And was intrigued to see the plaques showing Escher's drawings there.
lovely welcome from reception on arrival. we were showed to our room, and given info on where to find free parking, where the old town is etc.
great airy room & comfortable bed. great breakfast: the standard continental affair, but with home-baked cake available each morning.
the hotel is on the main street, full of bustling bars & the students from the University give Corte a youthful exuberance...but then also quieter restaurants in the old town.
The price was fairly cheap for Corisca in the summer (as you would expect from a 2 star hotel) and it was pretty neat that for this price you could have a pool (even if a slightly overcrowded one).
Location was ok. About a 10 minute walk to the old town and on the opposite direction there was a large supermarket (the largest I saw in all of Corisca). There's also plenty of free parking around.
We enjoyed the location far away from the very touristy city of Corte. It was quiet and very peaceful. Patrick, the man who runs the place was very kind and a good conversationalist. Our room was located up a steep wood ladder-like going up into a treehouse. Breakfast was adequate-homemade jams.
Having stayed at the hotel twice now, I think I have a balanced idea of the place. In a nutshell, the Studios are great - you get a lot of space and can get a through-draft going as there are two aspects to the accommodation. The normal rooms are really pretty bad : very pokey and tired.
The location and setting of this hotel are amazing. It overlooks a beautiful, crystal clear river with lots of beautiful swimming holes. It's also near a cute village and best of all, an amazing hiking area up the canyon. The breakfast was great outside overlooking the river.
Classic Corsican hotel steeped in history. Marble stairs lead to old style doors. Wide plank floors, high ceilings and classic furnishings. Breakfast was delightful with some homemade offerings. Owner very helpful. Easy walk to Corte downtown.
The location is fantastic, the hotel is modern and clean with great interior design. The breakfast was great with lots of home made produce. There’s a restaurant next door which serves great food in a nice ambience.
Peaceful, lovely views.
Delicious dinner prepared during our stay, couldn't have asked for more - great company.
Host very kindly collected us from Corte and gave us a lift to the station the next day.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was updated, quiet, and very comfortable. Great location to explore the heart of Corte with easy pay parking nearby (free is just a bit further away).
Very nice surroundings with beautiful nature. Hotel is at the perfect location for exploring the island. It is tastefully decorated, clean, great pool for the relaxing time during the day.
Character building in a great location.
Comfortable room with mountain views.
Great breakfast with much of it home made (such as the best yoghurt ever).
Lovely family run hotel.
This little hotel is located right in the old town and close to restaurants and bakeries.
The owner (with the help of Google Translate), was very helpful with information.
The location on the river was beautiful. Close to a short easy hike and a short drive to town. Loved our dinner at the hotel, delicious food and great coffee in the morning
Location is great getaway for many hiking routes around Corte and tent was super comfortable. Enjoyed also pool one afternoon and little bar with reasonable prices
Comfortable stay in the neighbourhood of Corte, it mainly guests students of the close university and tourists (like ourselves). Free parking in the premises.
This is a unique experience in Corsica. It is a working farm. But it is also a small, modern inn. The staff was great. The room was spacious and comfortable.
