It is a city of scamsters and touters. I have not seen a single city in the world except Kolkata where almost all cab and taxi services (including ola, uber and bikes etc) ask the customer for more money than what is shown in the app and threaten to cancel the ride otherwise. The worker class and labour class is fully corrupt

Kolkata is indeed the city of joy.
Kolkata is indeed the city of joy. Walking through the street of Kolkata means, walking through history, culture and heritage. One or two days are nothing for Kolkata. To know Kolkata, to see Kolkata you need at least a month to get the best essence of the trip. Old part of the city as well as modern part of the city has so many beautiful things to offer for a tourist. I think Kolkata is the best place to enrich ones knowledge of arts, music, literature and what not?

This was my first time visiting Kolkata.
This was my first time visiting Kolkata. I had heard that it was very congested, old, run down and dirty. I found it to be the same as most of the other big cities in India. Liked the history. However the old Kolkata could do with an uplift. To preserve some of the old buildings they need to be refurbished.
The rooms are beautiful, and they give vibes of history of Kolkata. I really love the architecture of the hotel. The pictures and paints in the bar amazing. So much history, Paintings and pictures of the foundation of the hotel and freedom fighters. The food is amazing especially the Thai restaurant in the hotel. It seems it is rated best in India or something for Thai food. It certainly lived to the mark. The poolside is amazing as well and you tell them to arrange dinner for you near the pool side as well.
This is a couple of nice apartments located on 5th floor of a building which is centrally located in south Kolkata ( posh area of the city) near park street . The rooms were clean and they serve good breakfast . The staff and hosts are nice people and they help you out politely . There are many food joints around the building within walking distance . This location is very near to Victoria Memorial . Overall its a nice stay at this hotel .
We were put into an urgent situation by our overnight train journey Jaipur to Kolkata not being confirmed. We had to arrange a flight and an overnight accommodation . We picked this hotel because of 2 reasons:
It said AIRPORT, and it said pay at the hotel. We have been advised by local friends to always inspect the room before paying. Additionally, we had experienced difficulty with online payments so far in our 9 week stay in India.
Very clean, modern large room - excellent value (low season stay) Service is good. All the staff members are very polite and friendly. They made us feel so comfortable right from the first meeting that we hardly felt that we were residing in a hotel. Overall, It was a good experience. I will recommend it to everyone who wants to stay near airport side without hustle bustle and noisy environment.
This was our first stay in the Taj group of hotels in India and we were pleasantly surprised. The room had tasteful decor along with all facilities and also was very clean and quiet. The bed was comfortable and we had a great sleep after a tiring flight. The breakfast was good with a lot of choices. The staff tried to make our stay with a small baby as comfortable as possible.
Mohar Residency is a real gem in a wonderful part of an awesome city. If you want to be able to walk the streets of India and appreciate the local population, it is well situated. The staff is friendly and the manager is a wonderful person. I make it a point to stay here whenever visiting Kolkata, especially during Durga Puja. For 3 nights or three months it is wonderful
The location is okay, although also a bit weird. There are definetly better areas in Kolkata. The prepayment I had to make before arriving suprisingly worked. The bathroom was okay and the shower worked and warm water was available.
The price is generally more than okay/it's a quite cheap hotel. However I can't recommend coming here.
The Hotel Empresa Kolkata is locally at a Very Prime Location at Park street area, close to Park Street Metro station , close to New Market and Esplanade, very clean hotel, rooms are good, comfortable bed with all required modern amenities with a 3* Ratings, but gives you the service of a 4* Hotel, good food, breakfast also tasty.
The location is perfect... just 5 minutes walk from Park Circus. From there you can easily get public transport to any part of Kolkata or connection to any of the metro stations. 20-25 minutes walk from Park Street metro station. There is a nice breakfast place just beside hotel where you can get awesome piping hot Poori Sabji...
Super downtown hotel in kolkata. Near to rabindra sadan metro station. Close to park Street. It has clean and comfortable rooms.A good affordable price and helpful and kind staff. It is next to a small pond with ducks and green trees , nice scenic spot right in the business district of Kolkata.
Sanitation, hygiene, food, staff behaviour, location from airport. Overall very pleasant and comfortable stay. The kitchen Elphin serves exceptional home like food. The food was Exactly same as we indians eat in our houses, i mean pure, tasty and healthy. Special compliments to the CHEF.!!
I had a wonderful experience.very comfortable, and the staff was amazing and also owner is really good person like family member.. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting kolkata.location is great with access to transportation minute away and many eateries near by.
probably the best small hotel I stayed in in India. beautifully restored house, the rooms are very large and comfortable. all the staff are amazing. breakfasts are good, I didn’t try the dinners. connected Calcutta walks so easy to arrange . would definitely recommend.
The best part of property was it was very close to airport. Thus it would be suitable option for anyone who is looking for an overnight stay near airport for their transit journey. Also they provided shuttle service to airport albeit with minimal charges.
The hotel is one of the oldest hotel of India so far; I liked the artistic interior, furniture and decorations as s whole! However lobby area is small and lac of seating arrangements.
A nice budget hotel in Park Street one of the most expensive part of kolkata . Room was nice and clean. There were lots of places to eat around . It was easy to get local transport.
