Minano
Guests can choose to stay in Japanese-style or Western-style rooms. Each comes with a TV, a fridge and an electric kettle with green tea bags. Japanese Yukata robes are provided for all guests and each room has a private toilet. Some rooms have a private bathroom with shower. Walking around the parks: The paths were clearly marked and well-troddened , so there's less risks of getting lost if you followed the trails. Lots of fungi and we found snake skins around, there must be snakes. We didn't see any during our 4-hr walk. The birds started chirping happily when it started to snow. There was breeze.. it's so quiet you'd hear the rustling of leaves. Our meals: Fine Japanese dining. Each dish was perfectly cooked, the chef was very skilled and meticulous with his dishes. Each meal included a wide array of dishes ranging from appetizers, soups, proteins and starches. Each meal was very filling and satisfying. The service was also top notch with the waiters explaining dishes with limited English. There's a menu for drinks, the meals come with water and ocha. Overall a superb dining experience. The onsen: The renovations were onsite , the male section was closed, we had to rotate , men get certain hours and ladies get some slots. As it was off season when we were there, we managed to book a private session to ourselves- my son and I. There's a large hot pool, a very good sauna- the shower area: shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided for. The usual good onsen practice applies here, wash yourself before entering the pool. Once you dried yourself, in the dressing area, there are seats with hair dryer, body lotion, etc. very pampering. If you're familiar with ryokans this is similar.

Chichibu
Offering city views, Natural Farm City Noen Hotel is an accommodation set in Chichibu, 45 km from Kumagaya Rugby Stadium and 1.9 km from Chichibu Shrine. Each accommodation at the 3-star ryokan has mountain views, and guests can enjoy access to a public bath and an open-air bath. The ryokan also offers free WiFi, free private parking and facilities for disabled guests. First of all, the room itself is way larger than you would normally expect in Japan, so plenty of space if you have extra luggage. Plus plenty of amenities, free parking, and helpful (as well as English speaking) staff. The hotel is also located on a large hill overlooking Chichibu, and the view from the room (especially if you can get one on the upper floors) is simply amazing! Better still, you get a very nice traditional Japanese bathroom, that borders on a private onsen, with a large window right next to the bath. I have no complaints about the communal onsen, but if you want a proper onsen experience, there are better places to stay. HOWEVER, wait until nightfall, and prepare a bath in your own room, and then you can relax in the hot water whilst watching all the lights of pretty much the entirety of Chichibu - a view I daresay very few proper onsen hotels can offer, and which is truly spectacular!

Large bed Onsen included in hotel
Like other hotels in Japan they provided a room clean-up only when requested, or every 3 days. However, each day they would at least leave a bag holding a set of fresh towels, fresh yukutas, coffee, etc. That was much appreciated! Also, the front-desk staff were always so very courteous and professional. The yukatas and slippers are a nice touch!
I loved the room which was big and comfortable. The room had a newly refurbished toilets and showers which were great. The dinner was also quite nice and so was the onsen with the view. The front desk guy was very welcoming as well.
A wonderful upscale and classic ryokan experience up in the mountains. The Staff were amazing and gracious. The food was over the top too. This was a wonderful break from the classic western hotel experience. Bucket List!
Very nice ryokan, great ofuro (public bath) which you can reservate to have it one hour for yourself. You can bath together as a couple.
First, I have to admit that it was one of my best experience on Booking. This ryokan was really nice, comfortable and the staff was exceptionally kind. They are really taking care of each details for customers/tourists experience. The building itself is fantastic and we were feeling so good in this place. The location is also good, 5/10mn walk from the station and the main street.
The hotel was excellent and the 13th floor reception area was beautiful. The rooms are lovely and spacious and the bed very comfortable. We also loved the onsen!
The rooms are small but very clean. The breakfast is also plentiful! I was glad that the parking was free in front of the hotel, but it can fill up, so would definitely get there as early as possible if going by car. The onsen was small but clean.
Hotel is new and modern, location not far from the train station. Very nice and clean hotel with onsen!!!
Beautiful house, very nice hosts, good location, privacy in the dorms thanks to the curtains. Eating in the dorm room is not allowed but there's a common room (with tatami flooring!) with a table and some kitchenware that guests can use.
