Yoyokaku is a sublime inn and garden. Everything was perfect. The bath/pottery/evening meal/breakfast/staff, it was an utter idyll at the end of a fairly busy few weeks travelling through Japan. I was hesitant to book this resort initially as there was only 1 recent review when I booked, and the older reviews of the original hotel were not that good. However, I decided to take a chance and I'm so glad I did!!! The resort is newly renovated and all the furnishings and decor are all very clean and new. The resort location was ideal as I wanted to be located near Mifuneyama Rakuen so I could go see the Autumn colours at night (only 6 min drive away). The facilities on the resort were fantastic.... the spa pool required swimsuits which the resort thoughtfully prepared for each guest, all packed in individual tote bags. The hot spring pool was a a bit small, but the resort was not packed when we stayed, so there were no other people around when we used the spa pool or hot spring. But what impressed me the most has to be the amazing service we received. Most of the staff did not speak English or could only speak minimal English, but they always tried their best to understand our needs, and made us feel so comfortable. The staff's dedication and service quality are top-notch. The food was so amazing as well (The sukiyaki dinner and Japanese breakfast included in the stay were so good!)

The staff at Ryokan Oomuraya were very nice and accommodating. The staff had a good level of English, and were very helpful with recommendations and offering information. The room was spacious and comfortable. The public bath was very nice and not crowded, and it had a view of the river. Especially nice in the morning. Also they let guests make a reservation to use the private onsen (bath) for one hour. Don't forget to try the green tea beer at the bar for a local Ureshino-style treat!
The breakfast is perfect. although there are not too many choices of the dishes, most of the food offered are ureshino dishes, such as the roasted fishes, tofu, 明太子, peach flavor yogurt drink, etc. They taste very nice. And we had roast beef dinner in a restaurant outside the hotel. The onsen on the roof is excellent: good view, hot, and the water is very soft . You will agree with me if you go there. I stayed at a room for 6 (we are a group of 6). The room is spacious enough. The decoration is also new. The price really worth it.
the onsen, the bicyces, the breakfast
One of my favourite stays during our trip. The staff were kind and the food was delicious. Also, for an additional fee you can use the tea cup onsen next door which was such a treat!
The traditional house set up. 2 tatami rooms with 2 futon beds each.thw tatami beds were very comfortable. It's like an air bnb and the hosts were super helpful. I didn't even have to contact them upon arrival. They came down to greet us and were available for any question. They were very kind in suggesting places to see. It has an elevator as well, so it was great for luggage.
Staff was nice and helpful. The room was good, the futon were very confortable. The breakfast is good. The onsen on the roof is very nice with a good view on the town.
This onsen hotel only provides lodging without meals. There is no need for you to arrive early for dinner. The lobby is well decorated with old items particularly the old gramophone. The gramophone is played by the staff in the morning with records made of brass (?) but not vinyl and the music is still good. You can enjoy a cup of coffee, free of charge, while listening to the music. The staff will let you have a try to turn the handle of the gramophone. The room is spacious and futon is comfortable.
I choosed a tatami room with private bathroom. Everything was clean and comfortable. Besides the great Onsen the lobby is a big highlight. It's like a museum, you really want to spend time in it. To my biggest surprise the owner spoke German. She took some time and showed me around. The still working gramophone is amazing. Kyotoya is in walking distance from the train station.
Room was splendid, location was good. Onsen was great, the little details in the room was perfect eg the tea set in a box, a flask for hot and cold water. The matcha in the bags Yukatas present and ready for us
Old style onsen ryokan with new annex, restaurants, a bar, tea-lobby, shops, art gallery, outdoor foot spa, terraces. A comfortable place to stay!
