The nearest airport is Osaka Itami Airport, 39 km from the property. This felt like less of a hotel stay and more of an experience as a whole. If you are exploring Nara I would recommend taking at least a day to just enjoy this hotel stay. We were greeted by extremely friendly staff who helped us with every little thing, from taking our luggage to ordering a taxi for our departure. We were served luxurious meals for dinner and breakfast in our room, by staff who set our table and made our bed. The location was magical with beautiful nature and deers roaming around outside. They had an amazing natural hot spring bath as well. Would warmly recommend this place.

Guest house Hotobil B&B 潤 An inn that enjoys breakfast has 2 rooms, both with a tatami (woven straw) floor, a low table with seating cushions and a flat-screen TV. Guests sleep in traditional futon bedding on the floor. Bathroom facilities are shared. Thank you very much for the kind welcome! We really enjoyed our stay here, the beds were particularly comfortable and we adored the kotatsu, looking into buying one in the future hahaha. The breakfast was fab, really appreciated the more traditional Japanese breakfast! Also thanks so much for bringing us our forgotten items after we had left for a few minutes, our forgetful selves are very appreciative! :)

Basic Japanese-style rooms overlook the temple compound, and feature a tatami (woven mat) floor, on which traditional futon bedding is spread to sleep in. They are fitted with air conditioning and a safe. Staying here was a wonderful experience for our family, including 3 kids, ages 10, 15, 17. The location was magical and serene, the food delicious and unique. Wish we could have stayed longer to participate in more of the educational opportunities. Took a train, then a local bus as close as we could and then walked the last 3/4 mile, which worked out fine since we only had day packs on us, but you may want to plan your transportation ahead of time if this wouldn't work for you.

The accommodation was only a few steps away from the cable car station, making it accessible. Not only is the outside reminiscent of the traditional ryokan imagery but the inside is also beautifully decorated and maintained by the host. Flowers are freshly placed, baths are timed for guests' use, and the host is always there to make sure your stay is as welcome as possible.

The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. The location was picturesque and overall incredibly pleasant to look around at. The property itself is very well maintained, truly delivers the classic ryokan experience, onsen are amazing and very enjoyable, the staff was wonderful and incredibly helpful. The food was something else - both the kaiseki dinner and the breakfast were delicious, filling and a great pleasure to partake in. Overall, would highly recommend, I had a blast staying at Kadojin.

Kakimotoya is located near Mount Shigi, a 10-minute taxi ride from JR Oji Train Station. Featuring traditional architecture, public baths and seasonal cuisine, it provides Japanese-style rooms with a tatami (woven-straw) floor. Some rooms have a private outdoor bath. We were pleasantly surprised by the meals provided at the Ryokan. Meals were beautifully prepared. We didn't get to experience the bath but we hope to next time. Very clean, comfortable, and accommodating. The staff were all so kind.

It was comfortable, quiet and unique. We enjoyed the hot baths privately and then went on the massage chairs which was great after days of walking. We fell fast asleep and were very comfortable. Everything was just perfect when we stayed here! When we arrived at the hotel, we were offered hot towels and lemon and honey tea. A worker took our luggage and brought it to our room. Our room was super spacious and comfortable, and there was even free beer and water in the fridge. The small outdoor bathtub was perfect and easy to use. The upstairs Onsen was small, but we were the only ones there, so it wasn't a problem for us. The kaiseki dinner and breakfast were perfectly made and delicious. It was fun to taste so many different dishes and flavors that we otherwise wouldn't have tasted. The whole experience of staying here was just perfect and definitely a highlight of our entire Japan trip. We would definitely stay here again and recommend this place to everyone who wants to experience a real ryokan experience
