My stay was during winter and my room was heated, which made it comfortable. The food (dinner and breakfast) was great.

Dinner had so many vegan dishes and they were delicious. Breakfast was smaller but still filling. It won't be a western breakfast. The futon ended up being comfy and warm but the halls were cold in the morning. I suggest arriving at the start of check in to take full advantage of everything there is (enjoying the pond, onsen, tea in room while reading the info on ceremonies). Location was great for the big 3 sites, if you don't mind walk 20 minutes in either direction.

Unique experience of lodging in a beautiful buddhist temple. The place has a very special atmosphere. The (buddhist vegetarian) dinner and breakfast were rich and very tasty. The staff was super welcoming and friendly. Good onsen bath. Traditional Japanese-style room (tatami mats and futon beds) was really spatious and comfortable.

The temple, ryokan, grounds, and surrounding areas are magnificent. The staff were very accommodating, and the dinner and breakfast were exceptional. I still dream about their miso soup and pickled- and tempura vegetables. Our room was superb. We enjoyed staying in a traditional setting, wearing a yukata, and keeping warm under a kotatsu.

Peaceful, amazing and enlightening experience at Saizenin. Our room was traditional Japanese style with tatami mats and futon but had modern features such as toilet and wi-fi. Staff very lovely. Traditional vegetarian dinner and breakfast was well worth the money.

You are warmly welcomed by the monks who explain the program of your stay. Whilst dressed in your supplied yukata, you eat dinner and breakfast, creating a ryokan feel to your stay. The morning prayer was very uplifting and a wonderful experience to observe. The in-house onsen was an added bonus and very warming.

This temple is particularly good value for money. The futons were the most comfortable in all of our stay in Japan. The monks were very helpful although quiet and austere. We arrived sick so didnt participate in activities. The onsen baths were nice but a long way from the rooms. Beautiful grounds. Amazing amazing food and lots of it!

Staff are really nice and accommodating. Our room is really clean. A great place to experience Ryokan (A type of traditional Japanese inn that typically features tatami-matted rooms, communal baths, and other public areas)and Kaiseki (traditional multi-course Japanese dinner). You also get to experience the morning prayer. Location is also walking distance to some of the tourist spots and a 15-20min. walk from bus station. Excellent experience for us! Highly Recommended!

Staying at the Fudo-in during our time in Koyasan was really special. They looked after us so well and prepared the most amazing vegetarian banquet. The room had traditional tatami flooring and futon beds which added to the experience. The public bath was wonderful. Joining the monks for morning prayer was the icing on the cake. We couldn't have asked for more. If you're planning a trip to Koyasan, consider this for your accommodation. You won't be disappointed!
