We received a warm welcome from Alain and a guided tour of the facilities. The lodge is ideally located and clearly signposted with easy walk to close by restaurants if not dining at Mountain ViewLodge Belgian-South African restaurant. Opportunities are available to join Alain and his team to rent motorcycles, take a range of chauffeur driven guided tours in Land Rovers or Rolls Royce!! We had a very relaxed and informal stay here. The grounds have some interesting features and the views from the rooftop terrace are amazing and the pool an ideal temperature.Belgian beers are available from the bar. The local community are friendly.

No water or ice to drink in 40 c weather. have to go fetch in town. no Aircon. Braai was filthy dirty and the guests had to clean it if they wanted to use it. they did supply us with a bucket and water and go ahead clean it yourself. 🫢🫢. Gets very hot in room, no small fridge to keep basic coldrinks and water chilled. Rooms NOT serviced, make up yourself. no fresh towels. Bar is totally inadequate.ONLY VERY EXPENSIVE BELGIUM 🇧🇪 BEER. Request for ice, the little bowl we got was not with a happy heart. Coffees in room, NO MILK or replenishment if you should by chance have a coffee or tea…without milk- not provided. all in all, very poor and very little effort from hosts to make your stay pleasant. Host did supply transport which we paid for to and fro the venue.

The fact that they did nothing to make your stay comfortable knowing that it's loadshedding every night. No lights outside on the premises or rooms.you either have to go to bed or sit in your room in the dark. Oh the ceiling fans can be replaced with aircon if they want it to be seen as a four star guest house.

We've seen better .We searched online got a few places that we were happy then saw this one is 4 star but to our disappointment the 3 star places would've been far much better option. No provision made for loadshedding. These photos must have been taken 10 years ago. Suggest they get more electrical appliances,a bar fridge . They currently have only a kettle,two cups and spoons. We've asked F or a ice bucket to keep our water cool but they did not have. We had to buy ice everyday,put it in the wash basin in bathroom. The whole place is pitch dark at night when it's loadshedding and the threat of baboons was also there though we did not see any. .There is a nice pool on the premises but also the only thing to like. There is a nice view from the roof top but for couples cos it's unsafe for children cos the balcony is not stable.

Restaurant not available - dinner not available, breakfast not available, even though restaurant was advertised. Manager was very unfriendly. There were fleas in the bed. Not a great experience at all.

A very misleading Booking.com entry. The main advert reads as follows:- "The Belgian Restaurant at Mountain View serves traditional Belgian and South African cuisine. The bar has a wide variety of Belgian, imported and local beers as well as a collection of local wines" and I booked on that basis however what I had not seen at the very bottom of the listing under a section headed fine print it says that they have neither as a result of covid. When I tried to cancel I could not without losing 100% of my payment. The welcome letter we received on arrival was the most un-welcome letter I have ever experienced and I am a Genius 3 level member and have stayed all around the globe. To state in that letter that they have been unable to get their normal stock for the bar in April 2022 as a result of lockdown regulations is crazy. That was the situation during 2020 at the beginning of the SA outbreak. We had no wifi in our rooms and as a South African to tell me that the wifi is not everywhere as this is Africa is an insult. It is rather as a result of the owners poor wifi installation and has nothing to do "with Africa"! Back to the room. No windows in the bedroom, just a large sliding glass door and a bathroom/toilet combo with no door on the toilet. Per that same welcome letter yet again the rooms are only serviced every 4 days, this is also as a result of COVID. Totally unacceptable.

I would have liked a bar fridge in the room. Chocolates smelt. And cool drinks and water that we drank during the night was warm.

Very poorly equipped rooms. No stocked bar as advertised. The property is situated in a bad part of town.

The view of the mountain as well as the swimming pool. The owners did allow us to have our cat with us. Although we were told the pool is heated, the water was cold.

With almost ever accept of the room there was something that was only half right. The curtains are very thin so no privacy, no bathroom door, heater was cracked and painted over, shower head sprayed out the top and had nozzles missing, soap dispenser was broken, toilet paper (1ply) holder wasn't secure, lamps were very dim and pillows very old and flat, towels were tiny and hardly covered anything, no milk for teas and coffees and kettle didn't reach the plug.

Owners were very friendly and welcoming! Absolutely no issues there. Rooms are nice and large and good water pressure.
