Historic house full of character with exceptionally comfortable rooms.Dining experience first class and breakfast similar on outside garden patio. Views of Knysna amazing and we even marvelled at nature giving us a thunderstorm of amazing magnitude.A stay to remember. The staff could not have been more helpful.

Large, comfortable room. Staff were excellent and helped with recommendations and bookings in the Knysna area. Lovely breakfast and we enjoyed having drinks on the terrace every evening.

I would have liked a bit more vegetables incorporated into the breakfasts e.g. zucchini fritters or something along those lines.

The breakfasts were very good as well as the service. The view from the front terrace was lovely. Spent quite a bit of time on that terrace. The room was beautiful, clean and comfortable. The airconditioning really helped for hot afternoons. The staff catered to our every need with such friendliness and promptness. We loved the turn down service and chocolate each evening. Dinner was very good. All in all we wanted a relaxing holiday and we got just that.

The only negative is that it is up a steep hill but you can't have great views without a bit of altitude. This wasn't a problem as taxis were readily available to take you up or down the hill.

Everything was very good and five evenings a week they offer a restaurant service with excellent home cooked meals. Staff very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. The property has a wrap around veranda overlooking Knysna lagoon, which is great for sundowners. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Plenty of car parking space. The property is set in a pleasant garden and enjoys a pool with plenty of sunbeds and chairs to soak up the sunshine.

A period property built by The Thessin Family it is beautiful with stunning grounds and views of Knysna Bay. We enjoyed delicious breakfasts and a dinner which we would highly recommend. Daniella the manager ensured nothing was left to chance and she and her team gave us amazing service.

Beautiful views from the hotel terrace. Staff vey welcoming and informative on local activities and sights. Very friendly staff, helped us with our bags. Clean rooms and beautiful outdoor area for breakfast. Welcome drink complimentary was a nice touch. Lovely bar and lounge areas. Wonderful grounds. Easy to get everywhere in the local area by car from the hotel all within a 5-10 min radius.

If I had to pick one thing is that the breakfast could vary more. We stayed 3 nights and there was basically no variation.

The staff and location was outstanding, really comfy beds and a beautiful garden with amazing rooms. Dinner (wine and food) also really delicious!

Beautiful traditional hotel with wonderful staff. Our room (garden superior) was very spacious, beautifully decorated with a lovely terrace area. The bed was the most comfortable we had throughout the garden route. We ate dinner at the hotel on our first night and the meal was excellent. The hosts were friendly and very informative about the surrounding area. They even gave us some recommendations for the next town we were visiting in respect of things to do and places to eat and all recommendations were excellent - just wish we could have stayed at this hotel longer.

Amazing view over Knysna, staying in one of the most iconic houses of the city, overviewing the whole bay. Very helpfull staff and friendly service. Beautifull garden, where breakfast is served. And a nicely integrated pool. One of the real bonus points for serving small and large portions for adults in the restaurant.

The only thing we didn't like was the TV that wasn't playing clear, maybe because it was too windy I don't know, but the TV didn't give a clear view.

Lagoon view, Breakfast, very friendly staff, room was very neat and clean. Swimming pool were very clean, Kagel fire there were board games as well. Books to read.

We absolutely loved our stay here. All the staff are friendly, helpful and kind. There were lots of little extra touches that made it special. The manor is beautiful with lovely gardens and our room was spacious and immaculate. Breakfasts and dinner were fantastic.

Beautiful Manor House and great hospitality. We loved everything about this place. Old world elegance, modern comforts, great food and excellent service. Probably our favourite stay of the trip and excellent value. This was the home built by the Thessen family who started the logging industry in turn and was like stepping back in history
