Very traditional lodge, completely different from the modern places that we had been staying at. The host was wonderful and incredibly helpful, making suggestions and booking us into restaurants etc.

The best thing about the property is the hostess Elna. She and her husband run the place with a lot of love for hospitality. This is typically why we prefer a bed & breakfast/lodge type of place over a hotel. Apart from the warm welcome, Elna gave us some amazing information on the area and some sightseeing we could do. This made all the difference for our stay.

Elna was such a wonderful host, so accommodating and friendly. The sherry on arrival was very welcome;). The rooms had everything we needed and if there was anything else required she was more than happy to help. It was a lovely quiet spot at night. We loved our stay - even though it was short.

Beautiful location with wonderful grounds, on the road to Cango Caves. Unfortunately the weather did not play along for us to fully utilise the facilities (e.g. gorgeous pool). The children thoroughly enjoyed the secret garden, especially since the Easter Bunny visited! Owner is very knowledgeable about the area and gave some solid advice on what to see and how to spend time in the area. Our main focus was the KKNK this time - we will definitely consider a return!

Our house was a bit cold and dark. But the wooden houses seemed very nice.

The surroundings are gorgeous and the pool area is super nice!! The host is very nice and super helpful! She gave us some great recommendations.

Very beautiful, serene, conveniently located, air-conditioned, lovely braai area fully kitted out, stayed in family cottage which was clean, comfortable, and had everything one needs.

The owner went out of her way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The self-catering cottage was clean, comfortable and catered to all our needs. The swimming pool and grounds were beautiful! Great location for seeing the local attractions.

The place is more beautiful in person than any internet images can offer. We had an excellent stay and only regret not staying longer due to our itinery. We almost dropped the next location in order to stay longer becuase our hosts were so good to us and we had such a comfortable stay in such a beautiful place that we never knew existed until a few months ago. If you want true South African hospitality, open air, beautiful flora and fauna, along with superb hosts and a fascinating hotel too, please come here.

Internet connection in our room (3) was very poor.

Very nice lodge with a great garden and pool Area, just next to the Caves and the Pass. The city is also not far away. We loved the restaurant next to it (the old mill). The host was super welcoming, explained everything. Great communication also beforehand for arrival. It was no problem to store the luggage earlier. The rooms were Cozy.

One could hear some distant noise from the road, but it wasn't very loud and did not disturb our sleep.

The hosts are really friendly and accommodating, and provided good information on activities in the area. The whole estate is lovely, full of plants and a well maintained garden. Lots of space for the kids to explore and play in a safe environment. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet spot outside of Oudtshoorn but close to all the activities in the area.

A great stay all around with super hosts Elna and Paul who made it a wonderful break away, we can certainly recommend De Poort and will be back (next time in summer so we can swim in the awesome pool!)

As we used the braai/barbecue area, a lantern on the corner of the cottage would have been useful, but only a very minor point

Lovely host and very inviting cottage with extra special touches. Our children loved the hidden garden, the treehouse and the little balcony at the end of our cottage. Very comfortable furniture with cushions and flowers. We would love to visit again.
