Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomI had a little higher expectations as the other hotel is stayed in HCMC has similar rating but was better. Cleanliness was average, a few ants in my room - but didn't hugely bother me, would have been useful if there were more towels, and a kettle.
The room was very large, the staff were nice. The reception area is quite nice too for a small hotel! Location is good!

BelgiumWorst hotel experience we had during our 4 month travels! We booked a SUPERIOR room, checked in (and were asked to pay for the room immediately, without seeing it), and then discovered that they had given us a STANDARD room which is 10$ cheaper/night (we booked a 4 night stay). When informing the reception, they refused to acknowledge their mistake and kept saying we had the right room, even though we confronted them with photos of the room we booked versus what they had given us. That same night, they changed the photos displayed on the room we booked on Booking.com to the ones of the room they gave us, and estimated that the issue was solved. When we asked for a reduced price, they refused. We asked them for 4 days straight and they didn’t bulge. We also asked to speak to the manager but never were able to (always “busy”). Eventually they gave us the superior room, but didn’t give us our money back for the time spent in the standard room (nor for the hassle of having to check in and out again for the new room). They did give us 1$ back, I assume to shut us up. And honestly this was a smack in the face. Appalling customer service. Quite horrific that an establishment in the hospitality industry treats their guests this way. Oh… and they make you sign a form allowing them to charge you a crazy amount of money if they find blood stains on the sheets. This was pushing it a little too far for my girlfriend who was on her period that week ;-)

United StatesThe small refrigerator did not work + I had to try to explain to the front desk and he wouldn't come to see that 3 wall outlets were not functioning. I had to show the security guard instead.
The room was clean. Good water pressure in the shower.
