Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Hong KongThey had a cot but no baby chair for breakfast was the only possible thing I could fault - it was no problem to us. Thanks for a great stay! 🙏
Loved this family run hotel. Our young kids found the bonsai trees and pond of koi carp and other large fish super interesting. Breakfast was made fresh to order from an array of options and the staff were super friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend.

The owners spent much time to make our stay a success,. The helped organizing our stay and leisure in Hoi An and the helped with the transfer to our next station. The Bonsai Villa is located in a quiet neighborhood, but still its only a maybe 10 minute walk into the heart of Hoi An.

AustraliaAutumn (the owner) was extremely kind and helpful. My partner fell sick with a stomach flu the day we arrived - she was very helpful with organising a doctor, an extra nights stay and checking in to see if he was ok or needed anything. The location was great (10 min walk into the old town) and pool was lovely, room comfortable and air con works perfectly. We really enjoyed our homely stay.

The staff were super friendly and accommodating. We upgraded to a family room which was enormous, complete with shower and bath. The room has both A/C and ceiling fans. Pool has some shade from the over hanging tree. You can walk to town in 15 minutes, Ba Na Hills is about an hour away, as is Da Nang Beach, but there is another closer one which we didn’t get the chance to visit. Breakfast was good too, especially the iced coffee!

South AfricaJust spent the most wonderful 5 nights at Bonsai Villa. Autumn is just the most gracious lady who, together with her family and staff, has created a little sanctuary just outside the hussle and bustle of the Ancient town. The pool is fabulous, breakfast is amazing, the rooms are spotless, and clean towels every day. The bonsai garden is just so incredible to see and be amongst. Thank you for such a great stay.

Very nice local hotel in vietnamese style. The property has a lovely bonsai garden with pool and chill area. The host is friendly, helpfull, speaks good english. The room was big, big comfy bed, safe, and bath in bathroom. The location is walking distance from the centre, very quite. The price is reasonable. They serve continental breakfast of your choice, and can serve you a few drinks or extra sausage/egg. So, yes, very friendly. Spent only the weekends, but will come back for sure.

NetherlandsThe people at Bonsai Villa were very thoughtful and friendly. The room was clean and the pool was lovely for the hot weather. Breakfast was simple but tasty and fresh. The location is nice and quiet, a few minutes walk over the bridge to the old town center. We would definitely come back if we are ever in Hoi An again.

AustraliaWhen you arrive you may be a little surprised about the location as it appears to be a hidden Hotel but the location is actually only a short 10 minute walk across the bridge to Hoi An old town. Once you walk up the stairs and out of the small lobby you enter into an amazing bonsai garden and pool area with a Koi pond. The bonsai are simply amazing! The owners are a delightful family who are very friendly and provide a large, clean and comfortable room to stay on a budget. Our family of 4 shared a family room which had ample space and comfort with a good working shower. The breakfast was included and excellent with omelette and a fresh baked Vietnamese roll along with coffee, juice, banana pancakes and fresh fruit.

AustraliaI cannot fault our accommodation or our hosts. Both were excellent.
There were 20 of us on a family holiday ranging from 1 year old to 71 years. We were all catered for beautifully with different types of room configurations to cope with different size families. Our stay here was easy, as it was close to the markets with a wonderful coffee shop close by. Autumn and her family looked after us so well, it felt like home. A wonderful, relaxed place to stay.
