Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

United KingdomBeds were very worn and uncomfortable, I could feel the board under mine through the mattress. The rooms barely lock and no security for those who can enter. Breakfast is hot drinks and bread with spreads, not great.
Hostel is in a good location, lots of open space and a good kitchen. Hot water showers and lots of toilets for rooms that are not ensuite. Nice sized rooms

The El Español Hostel is so close to the Ship's Terminal and to the touristic areas like the ship Port and building historics. The staff is so good and there's a breakfast. There was a AC in the shared room.

NetherlandsBeforehand and at check-in they told me they had glutenfree options for breakfast, since I have an allergy. However, at breakfast they said they didn't have anything. They also wouldn't give me some extra jam and butter for the rice crackers I bought myself. The staff is not very friendly and not flexible at all. Not all the doors to the bathrooms could be locked.
The place was very clean and quiet. Nice, comfortable beds, working airconditioning in the rooms and hot showers. Lockers were good and there were enough outlets in the rooms.

IrelandThe property is a little run down. Rooms and furniture could do with an update. Bed and bed clothes were very worn. The door barely closed from the outside and could not be closed from the inside. Wifi worked for about 3 hours total of 2 day stay.

AustriaI stayed in room 3. This room is very dark and stuffy. The lightbulb is not strong enough. Also the TV room is very dark, no natural sunlight. The whole place is out of shape and needs some major maintenance work to make it look better. You can hear every sound through the walls so if someone is talking at night in the courtyard it it disturbing.
The location is great. About a 10 minutes walk from the ferry boat, the bus station and the historical area. The girl at the front desk was very helpful. The inner courtyard with a clothesline for the laundry. The bed was comfortable.

AustraliaUnfriendly staff. NEVER a smile or friendly word, especially the lady owner; a very unhappy face that almost had you apologising for even being a guest. But maybe that's just her nature. Baño doors couldn't be secured and need serious attention. Beware of the fire-escape type stairs if you are infirm, otherwise ask for a room on the ground floor.
