Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe roosters outside were really noisy starting at 5:30am. Of course there’s nothing that the owners could do about it that, but people should know that before they book.
The suite was very spacious and our check in/out process was very easy. The property was close to several restaurants (we liked JoJos shave ice and Da Booze Place) and very close to Wimea Canyon. The AC worked well and overall the suite was clean.

AustraliaA must for this property is block out curtains…what they currently have just changes the colour of the sunlight and doesn’t stop it coming in at all. It wasn’t what I would call acceptably clean. Bits on the floor I could feel on my bare feet. I dropped something on the floor and went to pick it up and under the bed hadn’t been vacuumed in I couldn’t tell you how long.
The property was charming with a nice casual rustic appeal

IrelandThe bathtub is not only far from hygienic, it’s also dangerous to get in and inaccessible for anyone with mobility issues. The kettle once available in the common area was taken for over a day - each room should have a kettle. Last but not least - the roosters kept us awake from 4am, which was way too early even if we wanted to start our day early considering the sunrise wasn’t until 6:30.
Great spot for exploring the Canyon. Property a stone throw from a black sand beach with a beautiful sunset. Best shaved ice on the island within a walking distance.

TurkeyThe room was very clean apart from the cover on the sofa in the living room. It made me itchy. But I was mostly outside and the bed was really clean, so not a huge problem.
It takes quite some time to drive around the island, so if you visited the Waimea Canyon on the west of the island or booked a raft tour (which departs from Kikiaola Harbor) it is better to stay in the Waimea region. This inn has the most convenient location and one of the most affordable options on the island. I checked in late, but the staff was really helpful and provided me with easy to follow instructions. I met the staff during check out and they were really friendly. There is ample parking space. I also enjoyed the coastal decoration of the rooms and the architecture of the traditional inn. The room was very clean apart from the cover on the sofa.

LiechtensteinThe location has come into the years. The wirlpool in the room was not working, and there were no extra's, such as a small joint kitchen. The place could use some renovation.

CanadaThere was zero interaction with the people who took my booking and managed the house. I only received one phone call and a couple texts. After I checked out I received a text with a picture of someone else’s camera card asking if it was mine because it was found in the bedding. It wasn’t mine so this speaks to the lack of thorough cleaning happening between guests. The air conditioner being in the bathroom instead of the bedroom was a bit strange.
The location was great and the room size was good.

United StatesDeep cleaning is needed throughout! The linens had blood stain & tears in sheets and the towels were stained with makeup/red dirt. We stripped the bed of tired decorative pillows and worn comforter immediately. The spa tub and surround was grimy, so we rinsed off with showers & never used the gigantic (glittery swirls/ dark blue) tub to see if it worked. We made adjustments that were sufficient for our short stay, but sadly, did not meet our expectations for cleanliness.
Great location for walking to grocery store, popular restaurants in Waimea, and a black sand beach. Go to Porky’s & Wranglers! A/C window unit was a must for my husbands comfort, so happy that it worked but it smelled dusty/musty. Windows had jalousie louvre slats which was nice for a fresh trade winds breeze in the evening and early morning. Lots of space to spread out; a living room area with TV, then the King bedroom with adjacent spa tub, and a separate/private room with toilet. The Bamboo suite is half of the ground floor. We did enjoy learning a little about the history of the inn and felt safe. Sunset strolling at the nearby beach & great location pumps up the rating to a good stay.

United KingdomThere were some repairs done in the bathroom and a note on a wall telling me not to use the shower for one day as they had put new calking around the outside. Because of this I'm not sure the bathroom had been cleaned, the mirror hasn't been wiped down and the shower glass was thick with grim. They might have forgotten to go back to the room once the repairs had been done I'm not sure. All the curtains were ripped and need to be replaced. The bed sheets have bleech stains on.
Although I didn't actually meet any staff they did respond to emails quickly and provide instructions clearly about self check in and out. I was impressed there was a smart TV although had to use my own log ins. Ample parking. Quite location. Cute building

AustriaThe restaurants nearby were closed after 5 or closed all day when we were there (sunday and monday). At the inn everything was nice except that some utilities like the fan and fridge were a bit too much outdated.
Nice historic inn next to the beach. Our bamboo room had a spacious living area and had ocean view. They also provide you with all the necessities for a beach visit. Location was good, next to the road up to waimea canyon. Would definitely recommend this place for a night or two.

United StatesAC unit was installed in a window that wasn't exactly sealed, so it ran constantly and we ended up being warm until the middle of the night when we were really comfortable. Since the windows weren't traditional and didn't shut completely, It appears roaches periodically got inside through them. The small mini fridge was pretty old and had lots of solid ice built up in it. The noise it made was pretty annoying as well, but we spent our days hiking or swimming, so we were pretty tired.
Bed was comfortable and the large shower room was excellent. Water was cold and hot when we needed it. Location was perfect for Waimea canyon and West Kaua'i in general.
