Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThere is nothing not to like about this property. One warning, though. Do not use google maps to guide you to the property. It will take you to house 3 miles down the road with a loud dog and a giant cat that will look at you like you’re stupid. Fortunately, nobody was home. Google maps will switch the address once you tap the directions button. Apple Maps works. If you have no choice, google will get you to the right road. After you pass a small junkyard on the right followed by a small intersection, watch for the only bamboo gate on the right side with a short driveway. The address is clearly posted on both sides of the driveway.
Everything. This is a perfect place to stay and easily reach all the sights around Volcano National Park and Hilo. The owners are awesome to work with and super friendly. Their property manager, Koby, is as helpful and friendly as they come.

United StatesWhat DIDN'T we like!!! The only regret was not staying longer to simply savor lingering in the peaceful beauty and privacy of this place. Oh, and an unexpected bonus - wish I could attach the recording we made of the soothing and beautiful lullaby of forest fauna that accompanied us throughout the night... Bravo!

United StatesJust that
Ingeniously crafted, artistic, efficient isolated lodge providing comfort and convenience in a facility totally off grid. We loved it so much we were reluctant to leave it each morning to go exploring! The only down side was getting there, especially in the dark as the roads leading to it from the west are a mine field of potholes. The approach from the east is much easier on the driver, and the owners should advise their renters to take the entry from the east side.

United StatesThe roads leading to our rented cabin were rough and had numerous potholes. This made us question our decision to rent the vehicle we did. However, the breathtaking views and peaceful surroundings made the bumpy ride worth it once we arrived at the cabin. If you're also planning to rent a vehicle for your stay, make sure to inquire about the road conditions beforehand. The property managers sent us a message to apologize for the road conditions after our arrival, but there was nothing anyone could do about it.
My partner and I enjoyed staying at this remote eco-lodge in Volcano, HI, as part of our honeymoon adventure, and it was truly a refreshing experience. The cabin was surrounded by lush rainforest, providing a peaceful and quiet getaway from the earlier half of our trip in the hustle and bustle of Honolulu/Waikiki on Oahu. Despite its remote location, the cabin had all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay, including a well-equipped kitchen, a cozy bed, and a spacious hot shower - even wifi. I especially appreciated the lodge's eco-friendly features, such as solar power and composting. It was minutes away from Volcano National Park and other scenic areas, where we spent most of our time exploring. I highly recommend this remote eco cabin to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway on the Big Island.

Excellent choice for a Volcano stay, right outside the park. Owners were kind, helpful and accommodating. Our plans changed at the last minute and they went out of their way to make sure that we were still able to stay and enjoy.

United StatesI lived in Mountain View, Hawaii for a couple years in my more nomadic days and it was so nice to be back. It’s peaceful, the home is decorated beautifully, the little touches of having just about anything you’d need, the friendliness of the owners and quick willingness to help as things came up, really set it over the top for me on my stay. I’m partial to eco and sustainable living so it was definitely suited for me already. I also love to fall asleep to the sounds of rain and frogs which may not be for everyone. Although I think staying here in Hawaii could change that 😊. This cabin has huge windows that easily open so you can really take it all in. I would definitely stay again. *one thing to note for people new to eco living* Off grid showers are different. This type of shower will maintain a certain temperature but is not easily adjustable. If you like long showers and constantly adjusting the temp to be hotter or colder this isn’t that kind of shower. I wouldn’t let this in any way deter you, it’s a beautiful indoor shower with an amazing view of the lushness outside. And supplied with everything you need!

SwitzerlandIt was a little humid being in the middle of the forest so drying things out after a wet day was a bit difficult. Could do with a better heater for this.
Location is truly amazing, in the middle of the forest. Wonderful cabin, really well equipped and everything you need. Very helpful hosts who provided all the info you needed. Great base for exploring Kilauea volcano park.

CanadaThe cabin is a studio, not a one bedroom. Big enough, but be aware. It was unseasonably cold while we were there and I had a concern with the propane heater as it is unvented. So we didn’t use it. There were lots of blankets, so we were warm enough at night.
The cabin was a nice little escape. Close to Volcano and the Volcanoes National Park. It is off the grid… powered by solar and filtered rainwater for drinking. The cabin does have WiFi and a propane space heater (more about that later). The bed was very comfy. There was also a good variety of staples and breakfast foods.

United StatesWe loved staying here in an eco-friendly and sustainable cabin within 15 minutes to Volcano National Park. We stayed in the eco-Lodge unit, which is on the right side of the property. It had an amazing atmosphere of island serenity, privacy, and so much green beauty and nature. It's really quiet and relaxing. The owners are so nice and helpful, and check-in was easy and contactless (they send you the code when you book the unit), and they give you their contact info in the guest instructions, in case you need any help. The lodge unit we stayed in has a nice TV, heater, fast Internet, big comfy bed, fancy shower, and a really comfy couch and chairs in the living room. We found a new favorite place to stay whenever we will be visiting the National Park.
