Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaIn need of a lot of maintenance. Very run down, look the photos on website have been edited to make the rooms look new. Trust me they are not. The bathroom in the standard room was the worst complaint. To shut the door it brushed against the basin and toilet it was that tiny. Imagine yourself in the bathroom trying to get out you had to stand in the corner plus the fact that if you fainted and were sick no one can get inside to help you its definitely not to building codes. We stayed for 9 nights and it takes a toll on you . If we knew it was this tiny we would have never booked this room we could have had the option to upgrade or not even this hotel. The lifts were slow and 1 always broke down. The staff on reception are all miserable and not helpful at all. If they don’t like it there they should leave. We are not very fussy and hardly complain but this was not the best hotel. We can only judge by the pictures and reviews
Great location. Five minute walk to busy Times Square and the opposite side 8th avenue which was full of dining options abd souvenir stores. The bed was comfortable.

NetherlandsThere was a big layer of dust behind the bedside tables. Windows looked like they hadn't been cleaned in at least 2 years. There was an iron, but the ironing board was missing. The toilet roll holder was not properly attached to the wall. The floor was not vacuumed or mopped during my stay of almost 2 weeks. I could mention even more if I took more time.
Location is perfect for going to the musicals.

Spainthe rooms dont have coffee machine as you can see in the pictures. The staff is correct but not specially kind. The noise was constant in the street because there is a fire station next to it. The mattress was not very comfortable.
The location was very good, only 1 minute until Times Square, the hotel was good. Bathroom is good, but unfortunaly, the first day we have a cockroach :( The spaces inside the hotel were pleasant. The rooms are cleaned daily and you can ask for more towels if you need them, they are nice.

United KingdomThe hotel is looking a little worse for wear. Some areas look nice, for example the entrance and lifts. The room decor is pleasant. However, the carpets in the corridors are threadbare and the furniture in the rooms are scratched and chipped.
Good sized room, for New York, very close to Times Square. Comfortable and clean. Helpful and pleasant staff.

United KingdomThe room was a premium suite for 4 adults. We didn't get the premium quality, everything was very useful. The bed is broken, the drawers of the cupboard are torn off. We couldn't see out of the windows, it was so dirty. The walls were also very dirty.
I liked that it was centrally located, everything was very close. The staff was always very kind and helpful in everything..

BrazilTowel had some spots on it, there was no water drinking fountain, shower was open so it would wet the bathroom floor, there was no mini bar/fridge, the lamps at the side of the bed did not work, quite expensive just beacause of the location, the structure is of a very cheap hotel but with high prices, it says 3 stars but it is more certainly 2 or less.

United StatesSlow elevators. But we chose to walk down the stairs everyday and sometimes we took them back up when the line was long. This isn’t a deal breaker, however, there are night clubs/bars right below the hotel that thump their music until 2-3am every night. Even on the 5th floor you could hear the bass overtop of our blasting loud white noise sound machines. Not sure how high up you could stay and not hear it, but it was loud and clear on the 5th. So ask for a super high floor and be patient with the elevator waits and you will be fine probably. Older people working front desk are not welcoming. Also, the foyer stays at about 85+ degrees like a sauna so if you plan to arrive and hang out before checkin, plan to sweat. They collect a $75/night deposit on the room for some reason even after you’ve paid in full for the room.
We stayed in 526 Premium room with bunks and a queen. It was a very spacious room, especially for NYC. The AC worked flawlessly and the room stayed cold the entire time. The beds were comfortable. You can’t beat the convenience of the location. Housekeeping employees and younger front desk employees are incredibly helpful and kind.

AustraliaTo be honest it was not a very good experience, we checked in and was greeted by a very friendly staff member but that's where the positives stopped. Our "bed" was a double mattress sitting on top of a base that was to small for it, where you would roll to the edges you would nearly fall out. The room was dated and not maintained at all, you can also barely fit 2 suitcases and 2 people in the room which was very troublesome considering we were travelling for 5 weeks. The worse part for us was that our thermostat was not in room controlled and was stuck to hot, the first night it was 26C in our which was horrible to sleep in. We raised it with the desk which the lady said she would get back to us, raised it again when we returned in the afternoon to which we were told that we should unplug the system. Returning to our room there was no where to unplug the device and by then it was too late to get anything done. by the third night of having no sleep a maintenance person came and assisted us he organised a new room which was the last night of our stay. really poor experience.
The location is perfect, very short walk to times square, broadway district and most of that area. Easy to get to a subway and navigate around new york.

United StatesThis is my second stay at the Gallivant, and the value is just not there. It is a little less expensive than all the other hotels in the area but it's because they're understaffed and nothing works. Climate control did not work on either of my stays. There is hot water if you wake up early enough. Wifi worked sometimes. Some electrical outlets worked, some did not. Housekeeping comes to your room at 8:00 in the morning and says "Oh we're sorry, we thought you were checking out," but it's to make sure you're awake because they only work from 7am to 2pm and will skip your room if you're in it when they go to clean it.
You can't beat this location.

United StatesAC was not working when we arrived. It was 83 in the room by the time we left for dinner. They got our window AC unit working while we were out, but never cooled down completely. Was still 76 in there the next morning when we left. Water from the shower goes everywhere due to no real door and no bath mat/towel. No fridge in the room.
The location was awesome. Staff was very friendly and quick to help us with needs/concerns. They get an A+.

United KingdomThe furniture was falling apart, chest of drawers didn’t open properly, and air con was faulty. The lifts were dreadful, there were 2 tiny lifts which allow 7 people at a time and they you’d wait for 30 minutes before they came. It was ridiculous. Constant noise and dark room as there were huge air con units outside bedroom windows.
Location was fab.
