Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).

United StatesThe carpet was a filthy it was almost sticky. When you turn the Fossett on the bathroom water just poured out on the floor, the edge of the carpet going into the bathroom was wet. Had we not been so exhausted and I got my pajamas on ready for bed before we discovered all of this I would’ve march down to the office and demanded another room. when turning the keys in in the morning and complaining about everything they just said the next time you come will see it till you get a nicer room. There won’t be a next time I will make sure none of my friends or family ever stay in this room this motel ever!

United StatesThe staff was rude and tried to scam me. They canceled my stay at $56 to tell me upon arrival that I have to pay $70 for the same one-night stay. The room was horrible. The bed sheets had cigarette burns on them, the bed smelled like cigarettes and there were flies flying around the room. It was disgusting and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone as it didn't feel like a safe place to stay.

United StatesThe hotel operator was extremely rude to me about my father's death, which had just occurred. I just wanted to cancel my reservation. He compared me to his employees trying to get out of work. He said that "people who want the day off always say 'my grandma died, my aunt died, you always need to provide PROOF." I was at the hospital where my father had just passed and asked if I could just send a picture right then and he said no. These people are mean, cruel, and rude. Furthermore, I originally requested my cancellation more than 24 hours before the stay. They waited to process the request until we were within the 24-hour window. Until then they "could not see any emails from booking.com." They kept making me call booking.com to work out the communication problem. So I kept having to resend new requests. Once the period elapsed they had no problem denying my cancellation since I could not provide sufficient proof that my father just passed. When I tried to explain that I had started the process before the 24-hour window, the hotel manager HUNG UP THE PHONE. I called back three or four times and he just kept saying "I don't want to hear your story" and hanging up on me. It is truly baffling how absolutely horrible these people are. Please stay anywhere else.
