Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FinlandThe staff could have been more informative and welcoming, Eg. I asked about a map of the area and suggestions and was informed that just walk that way there’s the old town, while I discovered myself that just nearby there was big market area and interesting happening ongoing (not at the direction I was pointed at). The room should have had some information about Phoenix and the closeby area and what to see. I would have appreciated some kind of a welcoming note in the room. The hotel guides people to go find their building and room themselves but the number markings on building’s walls are nonexistent in the evening. When coming in there as tired and worn out, it’s not fun to try to locate things in dark evening light. A map (of the buildings and how they situate) could be included in the confirmation letter of the reservation.

CanadaThe shower was weak and confusing, says turn right for hot water, but it's cold....Then I tried the other side, still cold....Eventually got to have lukewarm water, but still not hot. Also not sure why cotton shower curtain is used, it is so wet it drips and splashes everywhere in the small bathroom. Also was very confusing after booking on booking.com - it made me download the Sonder app and have to verify identity, etc. which is fine. BUT the app asks me to pay for parking. I asked and they said no, the price I paid on booking.com already includes it. So if I didn't ask, I would have just paid for it...These should be communicated more clearly when booking on booking.com I think.
The location is perfect! Right in old town Scottsdale and can walk easily to nearby stores. The civic center and Scottsdale historical museum are right next, that's the best part of our stay. Also everytime I ask a question on booking.com or the Sonder app, I get an answer very quickly which is good.

United StatesTub and shower were in need of some maintenance but functional enough. Also, it was made aware to me by staff that this property will soon be exchanging hands again and that staff was re-applying for their jobs.
Staff, particularly Bridget at the front desk-were exceptional!

CanadaIt was very basic and the exterior was a bit run down and painted over. The elevator only had to go up/down three levels but sounded so old and ricketty, we were scared we would get stuck. The chain lock on our first room was completely broken but we didn’t notice until late on the second night. They didn’t have tools at that time to fix it so we were moved to another room. Unfortunately despite that room being much better, we had the same issue with a broken chain lock but didn’t want to move again so this time we moved the coffee table in front of the door. Didn’t have this option in the previous room as it was smaller. If you have issues, unless you go to the front desk, you need to contact someone via the company app but that doesn’t necessarily go to someone on property who responds. You also need to pay for housekeeping should you need it.
Location was perfect. So close to everything. We didn’t have a car and it was easy to walk or uber. Rooms simple but were clean and beds were very comfortable. Staff were also very friendly. It’s self serve which is great as long as you don’t need anything. Basically like an airbnb but someone is present just in case you need a hand. Our friend said it was noisey from his room as walls were paper thin and he could hear everything from his neighbours we found it to be quiet, maybe because we were on the third then second floor. Loved the pool party vibes. So fun! Perfect for a birthday or bachelorette trip.

United StatesThey need a new hammock in the hammock area. The entire property could use some TLC and a good refresh. The rooms were really dark and the patios were dirty.
The pools were nice. The circle pool was relaxing and quiet. The larger pool is geared more for a younger crowd and not a family.

CanadaI think that some features and finishes of the room are ready for an upgrade or refurbishment. Specifically, the barn style door for the washroom was clumsy to deal with and was showing wear-and-tear at this point in it's life-span. I was very put-off by the excessive amount of personal information that Sonder required as part of the pre-checkin process. I found that intrusive and I have concerns about where that data (scan of my identification and full biometric face scan!) is now stored, what it will be used for, who will have access to it now and into the future.
We enjoyed the location. The cost was appropriate for the value received and for what we were looking for on this particular trip. The room was comfortable and safe.

United StatesI didn't know there was breakfast, that would've been nice... The decor in my room was dull and lacked personality. Overall it just felt stark and cold compared to the online photos which were colorful and homey feeling.... Also there was a loud, intermittent humming sound coming from inside the wall connecting my neighbor all night.... No TV, only streaming for which had to log into all my own accounts in order to watch... No microwave for my leftover dinner... No outlets over the nightstands, had to pull the bed from the wall in order to reach the one behind it.
The heater worked really well... The bed and all the pillows were comfortable... Nice patio.

United StatesThe overall feel of the property was hip and modern but it looked a little tired just below the surface. If you’re used to staying at a newer hotel that is part of a mainstream brand like Hilton, you could find this not to the same standards.
I like that I was able to get checked in remotely and use my phone as a digital key. The location for old town Scottsdale was great and overall convenient location. It has a cool/hip vibe that I appreciated and overall it was very quiet and peaceful despite being in a busy area. I think I got what I paid for.
