We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.

United StatesThe place is due for a facelift on the historic side of the hotel. Most of the carpet is stained or bleached, the walls show obvious patching and the door frame on my room had obviously been broken at some point. New paint and carpet and it's definitely worth the money, but until then. Not sure what, if anything, they can do about the seagulls or if that's a seasonal thing, but they were unrelentingly noisy night and day. Since the gulls are on the adjacent building, I'm not sure what they can do.
Very well-located hotel with many restaurants and entertainment options nearby. Easy walk to Fisherman's Wharf. The Monterey Trolley is free and right around the corner, which makes it easy to get to Cannery Row and not have to deal with parking.

United StatesThe amenities were a little sparse; in the bathroom two sealed packs of moist towelettes and a small bottle of lotion. Breakfast offerings are some fruit and granola bars. For what they charge I just feel like a little more could be offered. They could put another trash can in the main room, a box of tissues and a couple of bottles of water to start.
The Monterey Hotel is a beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Monterey, walking distance to most everything you want to see there and a short shuttle ride to the aquarium, which was the reason for our visit. We stayed one night. The staff are friendly and helpful, the room was clean and quiet. The beds are comfortable. There's a coffee maker in the room with some decent brand coffee pods from a local company.

United StatesNo air circulation in room. There's no thermostat or built in fan to provide air circulation. And none in bathroom either. There was a portable fan but not convenient to put in bathroom and no way to plug in by the entry to have air flow throughout. It got a little stifling with no air movement. It's an old but well kept up hotel over 100 years old so not their fault but location does not provide parking. I found out when I got there, I took it for granted they would have a place to park. It was either park on street during limited hours or drive around blocks away to find a public parking garage that wasn't full.
The room itself was great, clean and staff was friendly.

United KingdomLacked a bar, restaurant, or interesting lobby or common area (although has space for all of these). More could be made of the property to provide better amenities. There is no parking (other than expensive valet) and no help with our luggage was offered.
Lovely old building, booked a larger room (suite) which was a comfortable size. The oldtown location was interesting, with good shops and restaurants, and reasonably quiet. The staff were helpful if a little disinterested.
