Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Israelthere was massive building- construction site at the back of the hotel causing lots of noise beginning at 645 a.m. the hotel in anticipation of the building and the noise problem should have asked the builders to subsidize the cost of installing double pane windows in the rooms on the back facade of the hotel to minimize the disturbance to the guests' rest.
the location was amazing. close to tons of great places to eat and tour in the Village with good access to the subway. breakfast was delicious and service friendly and efficient. the atmosphere was very quiet calm and old world. a bit too dark in some public rooms.

United StatesI needed a (small) folding luggage rack. And I would have liked a toast option included in the free breakfast.
The rooms, while small, are very pretty, especially if you appreciate an antique-y vibe. All the fittings are brass, the tiles are a beautiful patina-green, and the floors are genuine wood. My room would have been tight for two, but for a solo traveler it was perfect! Hoping to return!

United StatesI really enjoyed my stay at the Marlton, which was for 5 days. It is a charming, old-world feeling hotel. First, as has already been mentioned, the rooms are small. But as a solo woman traveler, the size was just fine for me. If you're looking for expansive rooms to sprawl, then go elsewhere. I initially booked the Petite Queen but learned (as also mentioned by others) that the Petite Queen rooms face a building that is undergoing construction. And construction starts early and lasts until the evening in the day. And it is really loud. Not the hotel's fault. Even though I planned on sight-seeing, I also wanted to come back to the room to rest and the noise made it impossible. However, as luck would have it, there was another room available, and the hotel staff were so very accommodating and put me in the new room, which was one with a full bed. And again, as a solo traveler, that was just fine. As a matter of fact, I loved the room even more. It felt a little bigger, the bathroom was bigger and had a bathtub. There was also a very nice wardrobe to hang my clothes in, as well as a stocked mini-bar (I took that stuff out and put my own drinks and snacks in). There was also a hallway to the bathroom, giving the room a feeling of being larger. The room was exceptionally clean, the bathroom lovely with a wonderful shower head and very nice toiletries. I found the bed quite comfortable. The pillows are squishy, but I had 4 to choose from and just piled them on and slept just fine. My room faced the street, but there was very little street noise, at least nothing that kept me awake. The continental breakfast included with the room price was just fine. I typically had the oatmeal and a glass of juice, which is really all I needed to kickstart my day. The hotel really is ideally located and easy to get to places either on foot or via the subway, which is a couple blocks away.

United StatesA bit loud (doors slamming, noise in the hallway), often had to wait for the elevator. No coffee in the room. Insufficient blinds (lots of light in the AM). Bed wasn’t that comfortable.
Awesome location, one of the main reasons I stayed here. Nice CO bigelow toiletries. Friendly staff. Clean rooms.

United KingdomWater wasn't provided as a given and I went a few nights parched. Its standard to offer a bottle complimentary in other hotels so I wonder why they didn't think of it. The other thing I would have wanted is a clothes rail or a wardrobe for my stuff, but the room was very small and didn't have anything such.
I liked the chilled out vibe, the location is excellent and the staff sweet and courteous. The place exudes a calm that I loved coming home too, it felt natural and comfortable most times of the day. I worked in the lobby a lot and that was wonderful as well. Its a stone's throw away from Washington Sq Park which was a lovely addition to the day every time I stepped out. Its far from the madness of the downtown yet surrounded by fun things to do. The room was small but clean and the fixtures were all early 19th century vibe - which felt quite cool!

United StatesThe common areas of the hotel feel more and more dirty and tired. I have stayed here annually over the past 3 years and it definitely felt like a refresh is needed. There is shabby chic, and then there is shabby. Still a great place to stay! Just don’t want to see it get more run down.
Great location, breakfast and friendly staff. The bar/ restaurant are fairly priced and have a great selection.

United KingdomBreakfast was served a bit later than I might like - from 8am, which won't suit you if you need to head off to an early meeting. There were no tea/coffee making facilities in my room and bar prices were very high (the minibar prices especially so). Given the cost of my room, it was pretty small, but that's generally the case in NYC. WiFi wasn't password protected, which work users won't necessary like - I ended up tethering a lot.
Super location - perfect for exploring New York and easy to get to from JFK (you can get a train direct from the airport to a subway station that's just a short walk from hotel). The hotel is full of character: the rooms are pleasant and clean (if small) and the bar and lobby are full of charm. There's good air con throughout — it kept me cool even in 34 degree heat. A reasonably good breakfast is included in the room price (or at least was when I booked).
