I wish they had a laundry machine that guess could use especially for the one's that don't have a car other then that everything else was satisfying .

The parking lot, situated behind the building, is small, it might be a problem at times. The private room could do with a deep vacuum cleaning. The area is a bit meh. You need a car to move around.

Nice hostel, with a small but well-equipped kitchen, and a nice common area. I had the private room which was worth it and was positively surprised by the comfort of the bed and the pillows. Sheets and towels were clean, bathrooms, kitchen and pavements were clean. Big locker available (bring your own padlock).

It was my first time staying at a hostel but the staffs were all warm and welcoming! I felt very safe and comfortable. They were definitely the best people and spending time with the staffs and my roommates was the highlight for my trip!!! Thank you so much and I will visit here again :)))

Nice and clean, perfect location to walk to the Hilo center and to get the bus to different locations - beaches, Volcano National Park etc. Friendly staff and good facilities to cook your own food. Made some friends there too!

The location is really close to most attractions in downtown Hilo, so even if you aren't driving, you can still easily Uber to most places from the hostel. It's also only 10 minutes away from the Hilo airport by car. The bus terminal is within walkable distance (about 15-20m) if you are planning to take the bus to the volcanoes national park. The owner and staff are friendly and super helpful. The beds are comfy too. Definitely recommend it if you're travelling on a budget! There are also lockers in the common area - just have to bring your own pad lock.

It is so spacious, so clean, and the bunk beds are comfortable! There even a little attic in our room which is super cute. Good location, close to everything!

It is not the problem of the hostel. It is the problem of public transport. Buses do not arrive punctual as suggested by Google map.

The reception girl is very nice. The house is very clean.

Ummmm…nothing as far as I could see. Private room was about double the price for bunks, but dorm served my purpose well.

I actually live on Hawaii Island, but was in Hilo for a conference which started early and ran late. I came late and out very early in the morning, so did not utilize most amenities. However, when I checked in briefly in the afternoon, staff showed me various amenities and offered to accommodate my early morning departure and set the coffee to brew at 4:00 AM. The entire place was super clean and well maintained. When I arrived at 10:30 PM the place was very quiet and room mates were already asleep. I do not usually stay in hostels in Hawaii, but Big Island was exactly what I needed: perfect location close to conference, easy late access with door code, clean and comfortable bunks set up for good privacy, a very nice lockable shower room, easy and safe parking. And oh yeah, a nice price. AND, apparently considerate and well behaved guests.

There is no electrical plugs accessible to the upper bunk beds.

The hostel is very clean. Staff is friendly. Love the morning coffee. Very pleasant stay.

Amazing service, and everything was spotless! Lau is an exceptional host, making everyone feel right at home, and it showed in the comfort and ease of connection between the guests. Great location. Walking distance to all the happenings downtown, but nestled in a less busy corner at the edge of town. Morning Uber ride to the airport was only $12+tip.
