Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere wasn't anything in particular that stood out as a negative. We sometimes had to queue for the lifts but I think that's an issue in many NYC hotels. However there was a helpful host at the lobby during busy times who assisted with the lift queues (and access to the rooftop bar) so it wasn't really a big issue for us.
I liked the overall decor in the lobby and our room. We also visited the rooftop bar and that was a highlight of our stay.

United KingdomThe room was a little small for 4 people but for a 4 day stay we managed fine. The restaurant was not that lively but you're very close to Times Square so that's not surprising. Other than that, can't complain.
The Aliz is a small but well maintained hotel. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. The location was great, minutes away from the main areas of New York like Times Square and very close to underground stations and the Port authority bus terminal. Our room had a great view see the picture I've attached.

United KingdomLift was very slow at busy times, 10 mind to get from 19th floor to reception on Saturday evening when the rooftop bar had heavy footfall from non residents.
Just one street and two blocks from Times Square. Could see Empire State Building in one direction and the edge in the other from the room. Rooftop bar amazing views. Shower was the first in a long time at hotels that don’t leave us moping the floor. Concierge service very helpful and accommodating.

I really like the location, it’s a great hotel very close to the Times Square, with subway in 1 block literally.

United StatesI didn't like the check-in / check-out process. Honestly, it was a little confusing - there were separate lines and it was a little chaotic. Then, when I was trying to take an elevator to my room, I think there was a line to go to the Rooftop Bar, but it wasn't easily distinguished.
I enjoyed the drink vouchers, as well as the $25 credit for my stay. I also enjoyed that the room was very spacious.

United StatesThe elevator tend to be very busy in the afternoon when the restaurant is opened. You’re pretty jammed in, very over crowded. I valet my car at $75 per night, when it’s time to get my car back at the end of the stay, it was a nightmare. You have to give them one hour notice prior to getting your car, which I did. After waiting 90 minutes still no car, no sense of urgency from anyone after approaching them several times. As it was getting closer to the 2 hour mark and I started venting my frustrations my car showed. No apologies from the manager, no explanation, that experience alone will not have me returned to Aliz.
The location was great, close to attractions and activities. The room was small but doable.

United StatesThe elevators are a nightmare. We stayed on the 36th floor, better go out early to make it to the lobby!
My family and friends went for a weekend getaway in New York. We had a very pleasant stay at Aliz Hotel. I came with my car, there is a parking lot available at the back of the hotel for $65 for 24 hours. The hotel is ideally located, there is a metro stop less than 500 ft from the hotel and you also have Penn Station with all the major metro lines available less than 5 minutes walk! It’s an ideal location for all the sightseeing activities and shopping. Definitely will be back.
