Rooms are very small. So is the parking lot; tough to park larger vehicles.

One thing: The refrigerator was noisy, so we had to take the power off and bring your water with us!

The location is excellent, the staff is friendly, and they called us when we forgot and left some stuff. They were nice enough to keep it for us and return it. Overall, everything was good enough for our task-oriented travel and the value we paid, and we certainly would like to go back again.

The best way to describe the Avenue Inn Downtown District is that it is a former Travelodge that has been painted, has new basic furniture. and is quiet.

It was an excellent value. The location is very good -- access to downtown SLO. The staff was very courteous and accommodating. I have stayed here previously and would stay again.

Do not bring your pet or you will be charged a large amount of money. We made the mistake of bringing our dog and were charged for it afterward. They aren't even allowed ON the property, so don't even think about staying there and having your dog sleep in the car. I'm sure there were signs posted in the lobby during check in but I didn't see them and the person checking us in didn't mention it, so I didn't think about it until after we checked out. Once we left, I received a call claiming they "found dog hair in our room" and that they were going to charge us for it. That's fine, I just wish I had read the fine print on the contract first. And I wish the property details during reservation were more explicit about their no pet policy.

Location is very close to downtown (one block away to the main drag). Room was very clean. Easy checkin. Parking available. We usually stay here when we're in town because of these aspects. And the price is great!

We (family of four) stayed here for one night on our way to Los Angeles from Northern California. Rooms were clean, well-equipped and in a convenient location with plenty of parking available. Definitely a good choice for our quick visit to SLO.

I just needed a room . It served its purpose . I am an HVAC technician from Maryland . Unit was off in room . Had to wash out the filters on A/C through the wall unit upon arrival . Almost always have to even in finest Hotels .

Great staff , excellent room service except once trash was not emptied . Bed comfortable, close to downtown !

Very small rooms. Clean room, but I had to scrub the shower myself as I made that mistake of touching the walls with my knee. No one had clean/scrubbed that oatmeal colored granite for God knows how long. Basically a decent place right in town, and the price point is not a wallet breaker...

Very central location. Reasonable price, in a difficult neighborhood of a difficult to afford town. Parking right on site – old-school!

It’s an enter from the outside motel. No big deal really. The shower is painfully small and there is no exhaust fan in the bathroom. There is also no sink in the bathroom. It’s in a different room, part of the kitchen area. I was separately charged a $100 deposit which has not yet been returned. I have never been charged a deposit up front for a motel room before. I took a video of the condition of the room when I left. If I have to go to the bank for a resolution I’m disputing the entire charge.

The property is clearly very clean and well maintained.

Parking was limited and we had to park behind the building which, as a female, was a bit nerve wracking.

It was literally a part of DT SLO so it was really nice to be a part of that vibe while we were staying there. Obviously an older building but well maintained and in good shape.

This is still a good place to stay but signs of wear are really showing this visit. Not as clean and refreshed as before. Round toilet seat on an oblong toilet. Nightstands looked like something from a garage sale.
