Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

JamaicaThe pool was closed, you could hear persons on the floor above us walking. The slim tall guy at the reception window was quite cold, not welcoming at all. His answers were always short and abrupt. My opinion of persons in customer service should be pleasant.
The room was big, had fridge and microwave with coffee maker which was a plus.

United StatesThe hotel could use some updates. We had to talk to staff through a window instead of going inside the lobby. Elevator had a lot of graffitti and was very small - only room for 2 people. There looked to be dried urine on the wall in the bathroom and the light kept flickering.
The price was affordable, given there were two people sharing the room so we split the costs. AC was cold, nice tv, beds were comfortable, shower was hot. Lots if counter space for us to get ready. Clean towels. Close to the venue for the event we were attending. Also had two vending machines for drinks and snacks, which was great since we got back from our event late at night and didn't want to go out. Although we didn't end up getting in, the pool looked clean.

MalaysiaThe hotel is very old and the carpets are dirty. No electric kettle and no complimentary water bottles are provided. It's difficult to contact the front desk since intercom is not functioning. The street from the subway to the hotel is not conducive since full of homeless people.
The hotel is ok for the price paid. The hotel provides good facilities like refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Ample parking space. Location is good - its 700m from the Westlake/MacArthur Subway.

United StatesBecause of covid still no access to pool and no breakfast. Ice machine didn't work. Elevator seemed about to fall apart so we took the stairs each time to the 3rd floor.
Clean and comfortable. No frills but we weren't really expecting any. Decent cheap option near the Wiltern if all you're expecting is a clean place to sleep and shower.
