To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We’re currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil, and North Carolina. For properties in these areas, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

SwitzerlandWe first booked a room to accommodate 3 people. But the sofa bed turned out to be terrible for even a short stay. In particular, the mattress was so soft that the body could touch the slat. It was not possible to sleep on the sofa bed. Therefore we had to book an additional room.
The airport hotel’s shuttle bus to LAX is convenient. The studio is spacious and well equipped. The breakfast provides a few variety.

United States of AmericaI don’t know why there was no restaurant. The pizza place next door was it or you had to order food for delivery. Also the driver to the airport wasn’t very pleasant. I had to ask him to help me with my bags but I tipped him anyway.
I enjoyed the size of the room and hotel shuttle to the airport. The breakfast was decent.

United KingdomWith the exception of two individuals staff were rather unapproachable. We were a family group with two very young children. It would have been good to be advised of nearest, accessible grocery store and maybe even a playground? Maybe LA doesn’t do child-friendly as a priority?

United States of AmericaThere was no Bell service at all, which would have been helpful with 7 large suitcases and 6 carry-on bags. We had to make multiple trips to the room with a small cart that they offered. Additionally, the shuttle driver from the airport to the hotel wouldn't (said he couldn't due to a hernia) help with our bags. Traveling as a solo parent with 3 kids and 13 bags total was hard enough, but having to carry them on to the shuttle one by one by myself while other passengers were waiting was really frustrating and hard to do. Just wish we had had some extra help with all of those bags from start to finish.
We were greeted with kind staff at the front desk, who made it a point to remember our names and greeted us by name throughout our stay. Rooms were so spacious and loved having the ability to comfortably unwind after a very long journey.
