Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaNo fridge in the room or common floor. Space is very small but that is expected from the price.
The location was perfect, and the price was fair for being in Manhattan. They did a great job cleaning the room everyday. Staff was very nice and checking in our bags for the day was easy. Bar beside it was very fun.

United StatesWe had an A/C in room, but it was too loud to use. Also, if you have an issue with claustrophobia, you probably wouldn’t like the toilet and shower. They’re clean and good, but super tiny. There are no space at all to change clothes, for example.
Smart space usage! Even in a room with shared bathroom you will have a sink and mirror. Very convenient. We also really like the hotel bar - a lot of options, cheap, table games available! Atmosphere of the place was great! They also will take care of your baggage after check out for free if you want to investigate city before your flight.

NetherlandsAir conditioners deserve maintenance. The carpets are not good for allergic customers. Rooms can be quite noise during the night because of streets noise or due to the doors being slammed by other customers.
Manhattan is an expensive city, but considering the level and location of The Pod 51 Hotel, the cost x benefit is worth it. The location is amazing. The rooms are clean. Comfortable beds. The roof-top is awesome. Very good (free) guided tours.

New ZealandNoise - to be fair we didn’t hear any noise from the street, but the aircon unit kept us up at night a few times because it was so loud! Fridge - we would have appreciated having a fridge, this was an issue for us because we stayed when it was HOT! We kept having to run around the corner to the shop to buy cold beverages
Location - amazing! Walking distance to most things, and if you’re not too keen on a walk, there’s a few subway stations close by Cleanliness - we got a room with shared bathrooms, and they were very clean at all times! Shared bathrooms - we had no issues with having to wait to use the bathrooms. There was only one situation where one of the showers didn’t have hot water, but it was quite easy to run down to the other one on the floor! Rooftop bar - nice place to chill and rest from the busy city

United StatesBathrooms could use some work. Fans didn’t work and water temperature handle didn’t work in some. If staying near the rooftop, it’s very noisy with the door slamming all night long. Rooftop is supposed to close at 10. At 11:30 I complained to front desk. Issue was never resolved. Had to ask for a room change the next day.
The location. Staff was very accommodating when I had to ask for a room change.

ItalyThe bathrooms are shared but the cleaning team is very active, it depends when do you get in but generally is clean, just a bit wet. (Shower and toilet are together in one room that you can lock).
Location is just perfect and the terrace with the view is definitely a plus. The single room was small but considering where you are you can consider it as very comfortable (I travel alone).

ZimbabweI guess there is nothing which can be done above the size of the rooms but if there were a little bit bigger it was going to be better. Otherwise it was okay.
The place was smart, with bed sheets being changed daily and on time. The location was convenient as I could walk to my work place without the need to hire a taxi. I do not mind coming there again in future.

United StatesAs I mentioned in my previous comment, I’ve stayed at this hotel many times. I’m usually very happy, but this time, the front desk attendant, a younger man, who checked me in, was very cold, and couldn’t even a muster, a smile, or a welcome. I also noticed that the hallways and restrooms were not as clean and seem to be falling into slight disrepair. I’ve been loyally booking a room at this hotel for my work visits to New York City, ever since the Covid lockdown ended. It’s always been really nice, but I noticed upon this visit that the lighting was less deluxe (they used to have cool lighting in the bathrooms, which are shared, but that’s gone), the hallways seemed a little less new than they’ve seemed. Obviously things age, but I can’t help thinking that a little bit of hardware, maintenance, occasionally, might make things nicer. I think the cleaning staff is really top-notch, they work very hard, and they are always friendly, but you can’t clean the broken handle of a shower, or rust, or dingy paint. They can only do so much. The management needs to give the place a touch up.
I’ve stayed at the pod 51 many times, and I love the location, and the fact that it’s quiet.

ArgentinaThe pod is really small. I couldn't find a microwave to heat my dinner. The staff is polite but the did not explain to me the common areas of the hotel. During my stay the lightbulb of the roof was flickering which was kind of of annoying
Location is great, it's in the main area of Manhattan. You can walk almost everywhere although you are like 20 blocks from central park (25 minutes walking). There are good restaurant around, also the area is pretty safe at night. Wi-Fi is good.
