The bed was a little too soft for me. The stairs were tough for someone with a bad back, hauling their luggage up and down.

Loved how close it was to the ocean…an easy walk down the street. Enjoyed the breakfast treats provided. The rooms were clean and comfy with a fridge and microwave and coffee. The shower was extra large with a seat and all necessary amenities. The staff were very helpful and kind.

Not enough fifths in the kitchen. I needed a large salad bowl and there were no bowls except two cereal surf breakfast bowls. All the other dishes had two of everything so you had to keep re-washing all the time. Our floor was very dirty. My husband word white socks in the room and theft turned black.

Parking is tricky. It’s located on a steep slope with stairs so not the best for elderly folks. Very spendy but was nice for a splurge.

The rooms could have been a lot cleaner. One of our rooms had no hot water the second night and still none the next morning. We had to all shower in one room, very inconvenient. After we returned home we found an additional charge of $100.00. Not a nice surprise. I had to call to find out what it was for. We were charged 50$ a night for my 7 year old granddaughter. I made the reservation for all 5 of us and then to tack on the extra charge after the fact was poor business practice. If someone made a mistake making the reservation, I shouldn't have to pay for it. At the price point of $375.00 a night we expected quite a bit more. Needless to say we won't be returning.

The location with the small beach just a short walk away was great. The beds were very comfortable. The small full kitchen was a nice surprise.

The room didn't have a jettle to make tea and no any spoons, since we arrived later in the day abd overall in the evenings it was not convenient. overall it was our most expensive stay in California, as prices may have gone up due to the Memorial weekend. The breakfast was very simple.

our room had sea view and it was quite nice and spacious, hosts were very friendly. there is a window in the bathroom ceiling which allows for natural light and is very nice. the water is very clse by so you can hear the ocean waves.

Great location, close to the ocean with a "more than partial" ocean view from the communal deck. Room was adequately appointed, not fancy but completely serviceable. Pretty good continental breakfast each morning. Staff was friendly, helpful, and responsive. Several restaurants within walking distance. Will definitely consider a return visit if I go back to Santa Cruz.

Terrible Wi-Fi, Blue Whale room too much $$$ per night for no view and no private deck. Needs an additional easy chair for two people to relax. Refrigerator nor freezer were cold.

Breakfast was good, bagels and pastries could have been fresher. Room was very clean and comfortable. Great bathroom and shower.

Everything too small. More like a motel with independent cottages. The room floor was dirty and sticky. The extra bedsheet was not changed and gross.

Breakfast was decently nice. Only usual high carb options but they had Greek yoghurt and fruit and homemade bread at the table. In a nice residential neighborhood. The cove is just too small to be advertised as they do.

The front office was not welcoming; a doorbell to ring and no way to check in earlier than 4 which is later than most hotels and no one is there. Not friendly just businesslike. Breakfast is Costco bagels, yogurt, fruit, muffins, oatmeal. Ok. The wifi is the worst and heater, cooling needs work per a maintenance person. But all in all a nice hotel.

The room was clean; bed very comfortable. Counter space and kitchen sparse.

$50 a night charge for my little dog is over the top. The highest I have ever paid is $25. $50 feels like a rip job

Poor communication from staff. The only person who was helpful was Dawn and unfortunately we did not meet her until the day we were checking out. Unfortunately, if you stay in the townhouse one, and it happens to be a hot day in SC, it will be very very stuffy. We unfortunately were in SC on a very hot weekend in October, and it was very hard to sleep through the night due to the heat. Another thing I noticed was that there was a constant rustic smell in the restroom. It was very mild but still, a bit bothersome.

This was our 2nd time staying here. This property’s location is so nice. Walks away from the cute little neighborhood beach. We liked that we had a kitchen to cook in and really enjoyed having a patio to ourselves. Staff has always been kind each time.

Cons: - 4pm is VERY late for a check-in. But the time you settled its pretty much late evening and then that "day" at the resort is just a waste of money. - Cleaning in the rooms is very irregular. This was our second time staying in this lodge, and out of 8 days in total we spent there our room never got cleaned, even though we left the sign on the door daily between 9am and 1pm asking it to be cleaned. I think in general, the hotel is missing cleaning and maintenance crew. The doors, nobs, window latches, appliances (our dishwasher was probably from 1990 and sounded like a rocket at takeoff...). The rooms definitely can be upgraded. The rooms are clean-ish, but dusty and have old carpets. However, you really can not beat the location and having your own kitchen in the room.

Pros: - The location is great, its literally 1 min away from the beach. Traveling with kids its very convenient to quickly bring them back into the room after the beach and rinse. - Fully equipped kitchen and BBQ. This time we rented a cottage with our own private "backyard", so we grilled all of our food. - The place is nice and quiet. Even though the hotel was fully booked for the weekend we were there and there were families in every cottage, the place has nice and relaxing atmosphere and very quiet (bonus with two little children who go to bed early).

Unfortunately the room was not very clean. We had to ask to replace the sheets on both beds as they were dirty and had some hairs on them. We also had to sweep the floors (but there was a broom in the room, so only took a min).

Location, location, location!!! Literally, 1 min from the beach! Continental breakfast was great too. Fully equipped kitchen was very convenient and the BBQ on the main deck super easy to use too. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The only thing missing was a fan would have been nice for when we got back from the beach, it was still hot outside. Also, the jets in the tub did not work.

I appreciated being walking distance to the beach and having the outside shower to rinse the sand off. The place was very cute, cozy & had all of kitchen necessities. I also liked having the ouside patio area with the view of the beach. I would defin recommend & go back.

The bathroom had a scent to it other than that everything was nice. I was a little upset about the cottage being a little too small for the price I got it but the memories that I made there definitely made up for it. Thank you

The location was definitely amazing. The people are really kind. The cottages were pretty cute and homey.
