Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesAirconditioning filter smelled like urine and the powerbutton was broken so it washard to turn off., floor was sticky. Sheets had stains (at least they smelled nice). The bathroom had black tiles and was so dark so I don't know if it was clean or not. Everyone says you get what you pay for. For 170$ a night, you deserve at least a clean room.
Close to public transport, adequate rooms for a short night sleep.

United StatesOne person room isn't much bigger than a closet - cleaning is only per request - and that includes getting new toiletries / towels. No Elevator is difficult with luggage - not recommended if you need anything other than a place to crash and a shower in-between. You will hear the traffic noise all night log.
Hotel is as advertised - clean and basic. Matches what is advertised - quick - simple and almost touch-less. Come and go freely - get in after hours with a keypad after you've checked in once.

South AfricaRooms are tiny and finishes aren’t the greatest. Rooms aren’t sound proof so you can hear street noise and other guests.
Hotel is located one block down from Penn Station. Easy access to the subway.

United StatesThe entry lock mechanism was cumbersome and annoying. Room had hot stagnant air, and the AC wasn't intuitive (requires a remote, which I was unaware of). TV remote was intuitive, but didn't work. Staff seemed annoyed, unfriendly if I had questions about any of the above. Smelled a bit of sewage (with can be hard to fix). Uncomfortable little bed in an uncomfortable little room. Kind of depressing place overall. But it does the job--if I was going to MSG again, I would go back (if it was still the cheapest option there).
If going to an event at Madison Square Garden and/or traveling through Penn Station, then this location can't be beat! And other than hostels, it offers the most competitive prices. While that's still not really "cheap", this is to be expected in NYC. That is the bottom line, and I can then forgive most of the things I didn't like.

United KingdomProbably the smallest hotel room I've ever been in with very dated decor. No elevator and stairs were narrow and steep. Not an issue for me but someone elderly or less able with heavy luggage may not cope well.
It was convenient for Penn station/Moynihan Train hall. Ideal for an overnight stay between trips. Bed was comfy and aircon worked great!

PalauZircon was loud and shook. Lights on a motion sensor. Could get up to use the restroom without every light turning on and bathroom fan loud. Super small bathroom with no toilet lid. Constantly worried one of my toiletries would fall in the toilet.

United KingdomI wish there had been a fridge in the room. While the location looked great on a map (right between the Highline and Madison Square Garden) the streets around it felt very unsafe and dirty. I am glad we only stayed one night.
We had a very large room, the hotel itself was very quiet. Highline and Whole foods were walking distance. We could keep our bags in reception after checking out so we could explore some more before we had to leave.

Norwaymain room felt like an old budget motel, for the price of up to $300, you'd expect more. Room was old, window offers almost zero noise isolation so bring airplugs, because this street is noisy. bikes parked in the middle of the stairway, no elevator from what I could see from the 1st to 2nd floor.
Clean, good desk, comfortable bed, newly renovated bathroom, good air condition unit that was almost completely silent (one of those European style ones that hangs on the wall, with a remote), good view out to the street,

United StatesThe person I encountered at Check in was rude and needs to remember there are service dogs and you can’t deny one. He argued with me about not contacting them about pets cause they don’t allow pets and told me if any complaints I am responsible, was expecting a queen bed but it was one twin and no breakfast or coffee.
Nice rooms and the convenience store right next door.
