A very quaint hotel near the Lihue harbor. Everything was clean and neat. To our surprise there was a Luau in the evening with great food, drinks and a live Hawaiian band and dancers. View of adjacent mountains was a fantastic backdrop. Would have stayed there longer.

When we entered our room it smelled very musty. After a few hours we aired it out but at first we were turned off by the stale air. We didn't realize they had beach chairs to rent. I wish someone said something.

Live music on Saturday night. Great breakfast and friendly staff. Many chickens and cats to enjoy. Rooms had a fridge and microwave. Hotel employees were great.

Whilst the properly is beautiful and has an old school charm, the key/ door was difficult to enter.

Staff manning checkin/out counter was amazing. I came in at 2am ish because my flight was majorly delayed and she was so friendly and kind. Super clean, full amenities, toiletries.

The door to the room had a lock and key that did not open easily. The bathroom could use updating. The bathroom curtains had some mildew.

The staff was very friendly and accomodating. Breakfast was decent. I especially enjoyed the fresh papaya, lychee, and apple bananas, as well as the Kauai coffee. The pool was nice. They even had pool toys for the kiddos. Comfortable bed and well-kept grounds. I was happy to have air conditioning!

Great hotel with the old Hawaii feel. Some aspects of it are dated but staff very helpful, grounds and pool beautiful and decent breakfast bar. Much more laid back then staying at a stuffy big resort where prices are astronomical and staff struggles to smile at you- don’t overlook this gem!

There are no proper windows from the entrance and bathroom side so it's very loud, especially with plenty of cocks around. The sheets were not very clean. The housekeeping through our things around and some of them landed under the bed.

The room was very big and comfortable, we had an amazing view from the room! 24h/7 facilities are super nice.

Friendly staff and great history! The hotel has been in this location since 1890! Great to experience this little piece of history and a wonderful launching point to explore Kauai. Looking forward to returning sometime in the future!

Breakfast was a coffee bar with pop tarts, oatmeal. Could have been better. Pillows were flat!!!

The laundry facilities was useful. Lots of beach/pool supplied. Enjoyed the music and free drinks on Fridays!!

- roosters can be very annoying at night - air conditioning of the neighbors (we never used ours) very loud and noisy, especially annoying at night , the wall behind the bed vibrated and the art piece on the wall… was very annoying to us trying to sleep , I told them and I hope for the next guests they can fix something about that - location ok, but nothing to do without a car or bike - the bed felt uncomfortable for us but everyone‘s different about that - for us it was quiet expansive, but we noticed Kauai is expansive all in all, so in comparison it’s okay then.

- terrace facing the backyard, green, lots of chicken / roosters (which was nice during the day but not so nice at night ) - enough space - enough closet space - clean - good climate in the room even without using the air conditiong - very nice staff and available 24/7 - drinks (water, tea, coffee) free 24/7 - drinks (sodas) available to buy 24/7 - ice machine available 24/7 - laundry facilities available - lots of free parking space - different spots to sit or relax spread over the ground - bbq space - free wifi - some evenings there are small shows presented, unfortunately we never made it to see one

Location was a bit out of the way but a 25 minute walk and we were at a lovely beach.

Although property was dated, it was exceptionally clean, including the lovely pool area. Continently breakfast was fine and allowed us to get a good start to the morning. Staff were excellent!!
